Poll: Trump poised for delegate sweep in Md.

    By Jonathan Easley

Donald Trump holds a 20-point lead over John Kasich in Maryland, setting the billionaire up to potentially take all 38 of the state’s delegates, according to a new poll.

A Monmouth University survey released Wednesday afternoon found Trump with 47 percent support, compared to Kasich at 27 percent and Ted Cruz at 19 percent.

The statewide winner in Maryland will claim 14 delegates, with the remaining 24 to be allocated in winner-take-all contests at the congressional district level.

“If Trump’s current level of support translates to each of Maryland’s eight congressional districts, he may be able to run the table in the all-important delegate contest,” said Monmouth pollster Patrick Murray.

The Maryland election will take place one week after the primary in New York, where Trump is expected to take the strong majority of the delegates up for grabs.

Republicans in Maryland will vote on April 26, which is lining up to be a big date in the nominating process.

Four other states along the East Coast — Connecticut, Delaware, Pennsylvania and Rhode Island — also vote that day, potentially making for a day of sweeping victories for Trump that could move him significantly closer to the 1,237 delegates he needs to win the GOP nomination outright.

In Maryland, Trump leads Cruz by more than 30 points among those who identify as “very conservative.” He edges Kasich by 5 points among those who are “somewhat conservative” and is tied with Kasich among self-described “moderates.”

Kasich edges Trump among college graduates, but the GOP front-runner sits high atop the field among non-college educated Republicans, taking 58 percent support, compared to only 21 percent for Cruz.

“Even though Kasich is competitive among certain demographic groups, Trump’s overwhelming support among men without a college education accounts for his substantial lead statewide,” said Murray.

Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan (R) has said Trump should not be the party’s nominee, but nearly half of Republicans surveyed said they hadn’t heard his comments, and 83 percent said it would have no bearing on whom they support.

The Monmouth University survey of 301 like Republican primary voters in Maryland was conducted between April 10 and April 12 and has a 5.7 percentage point margin of error.

This is really great! Trump is leading in New York, Maryland, Pennsylvania and Connecticut this week by huge margins. So he'll be winning far more than his "home state".

I wonder how they know who is college graduates and who they are supporting. No one has ever asked me this question. Are they just assuming or is this just more of the medias hogwash?

Free Beacon Poll: Trump Holds Small Lead in Maryland as Cruz, Kasich Tie

With two weeks to go until Marylanders vote in their Republican primary, Donald Trump has a small lead over both Ted Cruz and John Kasich, who are currently splitting the non-Trump vote evenly, according to a new Washington Free Beacon poll.

The poll of 600 likely Republican voters found Trump earning 33 percent of the vote, with single-digit leads over Cruz and Kasich, who earned 26 and 25 percent of the vote, respectively.

The poll indicates that Trump’s lead in the state is shrinking, but it may not matter unless one of his rivals can consolidate voters unwilling to support Trump.

Trump does far better among male voters than he does with female voters.
While Trump holds a 14-point lead over Cruz with men, women voters supported the three candidates equally at 28 percent.

The disparity is even larger among women under 40 years old, only 7 percent of whom said they support

    Trump.
Maryland elects delegates on a winner-take-all basis, so Cruz and Kasich splitting the non-Trump vote hurts the effort to keep Trump from reaching the 1,237 delegates required to become the Republican nominee for president.

Only New York will vote before Maryland on April 26. Trump has maintained a large lead in his home state, leaving Cruz and Kasich little opportunity to gain momentum before the Maryland contest.

One of the biggest remaining wildcards in the race is the endorsement of Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan, a Republican who previously endorsed Chris Christie but chose not to follow him into the Trump camp.

The poll found that Hogan remains wildly popular among likely Republican voters, with 86 percent saying they have a favorable opinion of the governor and only 3 percent saying they do not.
Maryland is the second biggest delegate prize up for grabs on April 26, which is also the date for primaries in Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Delaware, and Rhode Island.

The Maryland Republican Party awards 14 delegates to the statewide winner, and an additional three delegates will be awarded to the winner of each of Maryland’s eight congressional districts.
In an added wrinkle to the race, the Kasich campaign failed to get the correct number of delegates on the ballot in six of the state’s eight districts.

While both Trump and Cruz have relatively even support throughout the state, Kasich performs best in districts in the Washington, D.C., metro area. His failure to get delegates on the ballot, however, means he will be unable to earn delegates even in some areas where his support is strongest.

The Kasich campaign announced that he would travel to the state on Wednesday, one day before the state’s one-week early voting period begins.
The poll was conducted by TargetPoint Consulting and was conducted from April 8 to April 10.

    It's an anti-Trump push poll.

Check out these latest polls here. Trump's lead is not shrinking in Maryland.
