On February 15, 1998, the U.S. and Mexican soccer teams met at the Los Angeles Coliseum. The crowd was overwhelmingly pro-Mexican even though most lived in this country. They booed during the National Anthem and U.S. flags were held upside down. As the match progressed, supporters of the U.S. team were insulted, pelted with projectiles, punched and spat upon. Beer and trash were thrown at the U.S. players before and after the match. The coach of the U.S. team, Steve Sampson said, "This was the most painful experience I have ever had in this profession."

"We are politicizing every single one of these new citizens that are becoming citizens of this country . . . I gotta tell you that a lot of people are saying, 'I'm going to go out there and vote because I want to pay them back.'" -- Gloria Molina, Los Angeles County Supervisor

Are these just the words of a few extremists? Consider that we could fill up many pages with such quotes. Also, consider that these are mainstream Mexican leaders. THE U.S. VS MEXICO

On February 15, 1998, the U.S. and Mexican soccer teams met at the Los Angeles Coliseum. The crowd was overwhelmingly pro-Mexican even though most lived in this country. Did you know that immigrants from Mexico and other non-European countries can come to this country and get preferences in jobs, education, and government contracts? It's called affirmative action or racial privilege. The Emperor of Japan or the President of Mexico could migrate here and immediately be eligible for special rights unavailable for Americans of European descent. Recently, a vote was taken in the U.S. Congress to end this practice. It was defeated. Every single Democratic senator except Ernest Hollings voted to maintain special privileges for Hispanic, Asian and African immigrants. They were joined by thirteen Republicans. Bill Clinton and Al Gore have repeatedly stated that they believe that massive immigration from countries like Mexico is good. They have also backed special privileges for these immigrants.

Corporate America has signed on to the idea that minorities and third world immigrants should get special, privileged status. Some examples are Exxon, Texaco, Merrill Lynch, Boeing, Paine Weber, Starbucks and many more.

    DID YOU KNOW?

Did you know that Mexico regularly intercedes on the side of the defense in criminal cases involving Mexican nationals? Did you know that Mexico has NEVER extradited a Mexican national accused of murder in the U.S. in spite of agreements to do so? According to the L.A. Times, Orange County, California is home to 275 gangs with 17,000 members; 98% of which are Mexican and Asian. How's your county doing?

According to a New York Times article dated May 19, 1994, 20 years after the great influx of legal immigrants from Southeast Asia, 30% are still on welfare compared to 8% of households nationwide. A Wall Street Journal editorial dated December 5, 1994 quotes law enforcement officials as stating that Asian mobsters are the "greatest criminal challenge the country faces." Not bad for a group that is still under 5% of the population.

Is education important to you? Here are the words of a teacher who spent over 20 years in the Los Angeles School system. "Imagine teachers in classes containing 30-40 students of widely varying attention spans and motivation, many of whom aren't fluent in English. Educators seek learning materials likely to reach the majority of students and that means fewer words and math problems and more pictures and multicultural references."

    WHEN I WAS YOUNG

When I was young, I remember hearing about the immigrants that came through Ellis Island. They wanted to learn English. They wanted to breath free. They wanted to become Americans. Now too many immigrants come here with demands. They demand to be taught in their own language. They demand special privileges--affirmative action. They demand ethnic studies that glorify their culture.

Wealthy people from south of the border may not come here - but well educated, middle class professionals are coming here in droves. They are leaving their jobs in Mexico to come here.

This is something I have observed for at least 3 years and something the newspapers finally admitted.

As for soccer, my only exposure to Mexicans and soccer have been with Little League soccer. My grandson's team was playing a team with 4 Mexican kids. These Mexican kids were great players. They are also cheats. They grabbed the arms of the other kids, they tripped them, they kicked them in the legs, they grabbed their shirts to pull them down.

The parents were screaming in Spanish for them to do this. The referee was Mexican and their coach was Spanish. The other coach was, well, cowardly. Finally, my husband (hard of hearing) realized what they were doing, and told my son. My son stood up and yelled for the game to stop. He pointed at the referee and told him to begin doing his job, to the Mexican coach to straighten up and stop it and to my grandson's coach to get some backbone.

They went back to playing and no more cheating, but the Mexicans were screaming some nasty things. My husband stood up and yelled the word they used to yell in the fields that meant the INS was coming. Instant silence. There was no more trouble that night.

FUTBOL , SO CALLED SOCCER HERE IS A PASSION OF OVER 600 MILLION PEOPLE AROUND THE WORLD, WE ARE ALL HERE IN ALIPAC TO SPEAK ABOUT ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION, NOT ABOUT THE BIGGEST AND MOST POPULAR SPORT IN THE WORLD, THE KING OF ALL SPORTS !!!!

WHEN IT COME TO THIS , THIS IS THE ONLY THING THAT UNFORTANELLY THE UNITED STATES IS BEHIND THE WHOLE WORLD!!
GREAT STRIDES HAVE BEEN MADE IN THE LAST 10 YEARS , BOTH BY THE MEN AND THE WOMEN TEAMS OF THE US. lets keep up the good work.

This Sport has no limits, borders, colors or flags. and it's universal.

You talk about poor Mexicans, they are not there, cannot afford it, the poor ones are crossing the border illegally now as we speak, wealthy latin Americans do not come to the States, they live very well in their home countries, their goverment is exporting the poor to the US, the rest are exploited by them, in their extremely low waged factories.
They do not invest monies into improving the conditions or opportunities for the rest of the country, IT'S CALLED GREED!!!!!!!!

ME, ME, ME, ME, AND ONLY ME, ALL FOR ME, THAT'S THEIR ATTITUDE, YOU CAN TALK ALL YOU WANT , I LIVED IN SOUTH AMERICA , I KNOW FIRST HAND, I SEEN IT . I LIVED THERE!!!

SO ENOUGH SAID, LIVE FUTBOL ALONG!!! AND GO PATROL THE BORDER!!
Ahhhhhh.... That was a good laugh!

The reason we don't fawn over futbol here in the US is that we have real sports, like basketball, football (the real football), hockey, and the Great Game. Watching soccer is like watching cricket or listening to paint dry. Yeah. it's a fun game to play. So is ping pong, but I'm not going to spend $30 for a seat to a ping pong tournament or pay $50 for an Oh Sang Eun jersey.

Now, none of this addresses how a poor country like Mexico can send such a huge contingent all the way to Germany. Yeah, I know that there are a few very wealthy families that run the country, but I can't imagine that they are all there or that they could fill out the stands in this manner.

    Redwhiteandbluelatino ,
Futbol is a very popular sport all over the world , nobody denies it .
What the discussion here is about illegal immigration and that while millions of " poor mexicans " cannot stay in their country because they are so oppressed and hungry , other rich Mexicans travel all over the worlds enjoying themselves and obviously spending a lot of money .
Futbol issue here is just a background .
The most important point of concentration here is NOT a futbol , but one more example of extreme polarization in Mexico .
I will give you one more example , I am watching TV now and the Al-queda chief was killed , all the muslims now are placing slogans " America go to hell " promising to destroy the country
If I place this topic on the discussion board , it would not be an Al-queda topic , but one more example why we need urgently to protect the borders and to make sure the country is safe from illegal immigrants
You are missing the point - all the efforts here are concentrated on dealing with illegal immigration , your futbol passion is irrelevant here

I agree americans do not love "soccer" like the rest of the world. We have so many other sports to enjoy. Also the violence that goes on at those soccer games is ridiculous, those people cannot even behave enough to go and enjoy a game without beating up people. Gimme a break. People have been stampeded and killed at those games. I would never attend a sport that accepts that type of behavior from its fans. They can keep it.

Doesn't get any more American then a couple chili dogs, an adult beverage and a Sunday NFL game with a few friends.
