Saturday April 29, 2006--Public approval of President George W. Bush continues to decline. Today, for the third time in two weeks, the President's Job Approval Rating has fallen to the lowest level ever measured by Rasmussen Reports.

Just 37% of Americans now give the President their Approval, only 16% Strongly Approve. Even among Republicans, approval has tumbled and is currently measured at 66%. For most of his first term, Bush earned Approval Ratings in the high 80s from Republicans.

At the other end of the spectrum, 62% Disapprove including 45% who Strongly Disapprove. Those figures are also the bleakest for President Bush ever recorded by Rasmussen Reports.

Beginning tomorrow (Sunday), our Job Approval updates will be based upon data using a slight modification to our weighting process. We will adjust our partisan weighting targets once each month based upon survey data collected over the preceding three months. This will maintain the stability needed to follow trends while adjusting periodically for any substantive shifts in partisan affiliation. Recently, we released a summary of our data on partisan shifts over the past couple of years.

Pennsylvania's race for Governor remains very close, but the possible entry of an Independent candidate could create problems for Republican challenger Lynn Swann. Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum remains the nation's most vulnerable incumbent.

In Wisconsin, Governor Jim Doyle (D) hangs on to a 4-point lead over Mark Green. We've recently released other data in Nebraska, Ohio, Maryland, Illinois, Maryland, and Florida. National polling data shows Democrats leading by twelve percentage points on a generic 2008 Presidential Ballot.

Just 32% give the President good or excellent marks for handling the situation in Iraq. That's down from 35% a month ago. Just 39% believe the U.S. and its allies are winning the War on Terror.

In 25 of 27 states surveyed by Rasmussen Reports, a majority of voters favor building a barrier along the Mexican border. There is a wide regional variation when it comes to perceptions of how important the issue is for voters.

More people now identify themselves as Democrats than they did around Election 2004. Month-by-month party affiliation numbers show that the Republicans gained ground during 2004 and have been losing ground ever since.

While people are not happy with the President, 55% say they are better off today than they were four years ago. On the immigration issue, Americans are divided over whether something should be done so that illegal immigrants can find a way to stay in this country.

Occasionally, due to the rounding process, the totals for "Strongly" and "Somewhat" Approve or Disapprove presented in the left column do not match the totals presented in the right column.

Rasmussen Reports is an electronic publishing firm specializing in the collection, publication, and distribution of public opinion polling information.

Rasmussen Reports was the nation's most accurate polling firm during the 2004 Presidential election and the only one to project both Bush and Kerry's vote total within half a percentage point of the actual outcome.

During Election 2004, RasmussenReports.com was also the top-ranked public opinion research site on the web. We had twice as many visitors as our nearest competitor and nearly as many as all competitors combined.

Scott Rasmussen, president of Rasmussen Reports, has been an independent pollster for more than a decade.

To keep up with our latest releases, be sure to visit the Rasmussen Reports Home Page.

The national telephone survey of 1,500 Adults was conducted by Rasmussen Reports over the past three nights. Margin of sampling error is +/- 3 percentage points with a 95% level of confidence.
It's like hell vomited and the Bush administration appeared.

I do not identify myself as a democrat! To me they are as bad or worse then my side. Mostly liberal which makes them inclined to be pro illegal immigrantsI for one think we would be in worse shape then ever! higher taxes, for entitlements to these illegal immigrants, after seeing Hillary and Teddy up on their podiums during the last protest egging the illegals on to demand their rights get real, is this what you really want? Go for it, not me, I won't be voting for either party, I will vote for the man or woman who is on our side in this issue of immigration so that leaves out the democrats and most of the republicans. No more party line voting for this Indian.
