To the parents out there. What is this thing with kids cutting themselves?
My daughter has done this in the past and is now doing it again! She says everyone is doing it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I tell here this is not normal but she acts like it is!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I know this is totally off topic of the board, but I need ya'lls help!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I feel this is a product of our "wonderful government"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have to back off for a while with my "crusade". I know what I am doing is for my childrens future, but right now, I am not devoting what little time I have to them.


Help me out here!

Ohflyingone--cutting is a very serious problem!! You need to get her to a doctor. Our children can not handle what is going on. You must take care of your kids. Visit us when you can Ohflyingone, but you must schedule an appointment.

I know this sounds silly, but try it. Take her to see "March of the Penguins". She needs to be brought down from this evil world and put in touch with something wonderful in our world.

My heart sure goes out to you. It is just SO difficult to raise children in this day and age. Teenagers are just beyond my understanding. I do know that self-mutilation is a serious problem and you sound like you are doing the right thing by taking it seriously. Best of luck.

I will check out the web sites. What disturbs me is that this seems to be widespread and these kids don't see anuthing wrong with it. I have got to get her back involved in church. SHe stopped going when she met Kyle.

I recall an internet site dedicated to people who like to be hung from meat hooks. If I had not seen the photos myself, of people hanging from large hooks in their skin, I wouldn't have believed it.

Cutting oneself (scarring), branding (another popular thing tey are doing these days), some tattooing, and some cases of piercing (such as enough piercings to set off airport metal detectors) can be signs of serious self esteem issues. They are usually not very dangerous acts thmselves, but they indiate a psychological problem which could manifest itself in other, very serious ways. I agree she probably needs counseling. This statement has been sticking in my head since last night. Who exactly is the "everyone" your daughter is referring to? How much do you know about her friends or people she is hanging out with? If her friends are part of the problem you may need to get her away from them. Also is she into the Gothic lifestyle, or listens to a lot of satanic music like Marilyn Manson? A lot of kids with these lifestyles are into self mutilation. She still needs help but you may have to get her away from some bad influences.
