    Here's a newsflash:

    Humans generalize.

Yup. I said it. We do this dastardly thing known as "deduction" based on prior circumstances. In fact, it's a survival instinct.

To ask us NOT to make assumptions based on a) prior circumstances, or b) obvious criteria... is simply stupid.

It is ridiculous to complain about profiling anyway. Those asking for I.D. or legal papers are only doing their jobs. It has nothing to do with race, age or gender per se. It is based on best known facts and descriptions. Those who complain about it must have something to hide as those here illegally or those who sympathize with them. We can see through their facade.

    Except the illegals, of course.
AG, sorry about that. I misunderstood. I thought he was complaining.
He does have a good point that we all must be subject to profiling of some sorts. It's very true that if illegals actually had legal documentation, they wouldn't have anything to fear.

And, if ICE was only as efficient as the folks who serve us drinks!
    No worries, Sippy.

When you have a society as diverse as our's you have to racial profile and to say different is just plain stupid, and when you have 30 million at least (and I don't care what they say ) compared to 70 thousand Irish you have to racial profile. So get over it La Raza, ACLU ect. we will win this one to eventually !!!

JAK explained it pretty good, and a dead give away is police asking for ID and they yell racist, yet I have been pulled over a few times (speeding , I have a lead foot) I don't even wait to be asked, I have my license ready cause I know their going to ask. Have been lucky though only had one speeding ticket about 30 years ago!

If we hadn't profiled with the Japanese after Pearl was bombed, we might have lost the war to spies. We had practiced common sense then and we should now. I believe God made us in different races simply because he wanted us to be able to identify those who would invade and harm us. Whatever our emeny is, there is a way to identify him. To enforce our laws, we need to profile when probable cause is present, but to being bias towards someone with regard to entitlement such as being hired to a new job or to recieve a loan is not what I am talking about. We have EEO laws governing the behavior in that area. Breaking laws and chasing law breakers requires law enforcement profile when probable cause is present, SUCH AS NOT KNOWING A SINGLE WORD OF ENGLISH!!

I'd have to say profiling begins as early as we can start understanding television!!! Our media and tv shows that are pump through our houses every day show not but profiling and racism! Even though shows are PC they still hold that stereotypical cache they network types so love in a tv show, keeping that hate train rolling!!!

I'm not against tv or anything of that nature in fact I'm against censorship and we should have Freedom of Speech and Expression on our airwaves! Hell we pay taxes that keeps the FCC running right?

profiling works. no matter what criteria. my husband gets stopped pretty often. he has long hair, beard, and is a biker. if he has his bike in the back of a truck, it's a good bet he's going to be stopped. he never complains. he gets his papers ready and waits. eventually he consents to a search and they do what they do and he goes on his way. yes, it takes time, but it's okay. he knows it's going to happen. he could cut his hair and stop riding, but why? he doesn't do anything wrong. has nothing to hide. so if they want to check, fine. next one they stop may not be so clean. we all have to give a little if we want our law enforcement to do their job. my husband is also a retired veteran. and no matter how many times he gets stopped, he believes profiling works.

This reminds me of the fact that I've worked at my present employer for 15 years, and I still have to show my ID when walking in! Hey - I'm glad because I don't want someone coming in without an ID.

Everyone uses "racism" or "profiling" if they don't have any brains, dontcha think?

I'm a 50 something guy, so white I'm almost clear, and blue eyes. I got pulled aside the last three times I've gone to the airport to get the extra special check. I know they're doing it to show those that get offended that they're not only targeting Arabs and the like. I dont' mind one bit, I'm glad they're tough on security, especially in airports.

Twice now I've also seen them make 90 year old ladies get out of a wheel chair for inspection.

I suppose next time I should wear a turbin, I'll probably get waved right through.

Well there you go!!! Let's train them the way waiters and waitresses get trained. Forget to ID, lose your job!!!!!!
