As it should. That sign makes it clear that Americans cannot work in their own country. And we should want more of this, because....

Burger King Worker Fired For Sign Saying, 'Now Hiring Must Be Mexican'

Burger King says worker acted on his own

As countless Americans struggle to find work, many can't help but wonder -- is the search all the more difficult because of competition with immigrants? The conflict may be irrelevant at times, but here appears an instance in which the role of immigration in the workforce was forced under the spotlight. "Now Hiring Must Be Mexican," a billboard outside a Burger King in Ephrata, Washington, apparently read recently, as was reported by local radio station KFFM.

There are some questions about the image. Initially KFFM wrote it wasn't "exactly sure of the reasoning. Maybe none of the current staff can speak espanol," the site conjectured, as was captured by the news site, Opposing Views. But an update on KFFM's website noted a "disgruntled employee" was fired for putting up the sign. The radio station also questioned whether the image was really taken at the Ephrata branch, as well.

Burger King has released a statement through its Facebook page in which it made clear the worker, who has not been named, was not acting on behalf of the parent company:
"The sign in question was posted briefly last summer, without approval at a franchise-owned and operated restaurant. Please know the franchisee has informed us that the employee who posted and photographed this sign was immediately terminated as a result. The Burger King team is dedicated to diversity and inclusion."
KFFM also polled its readers on whether they found the sign offensive and 80 percent have said yes, as of the latest tally. The incident has touched a nerve among Burger King fans on Facebook. Even though it appears just one employee was behind the sign, people like Susie Carol Mallard Hortman are calling for a boycott of Burger King on the company's page. "I will not be your customer ever again," she wrote.

    The immigrant card

Either way, as AOL Jobs has reported, the large school of academic research mostly holds the effect of immigrants on America's jobs landscape to be largely negligible. As Pia Orrenius, a senior economist for the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas, previously explained to AOL Jobs, every 10 percent increase of foreign-born workers in a region leads to just a 1 percent change in the average wages of the legal residents. And the statistic holds true for skilled workers as well, she said.

Why is that? For starters, many immigrants occupy jobs many Americans would simply rather not take. And with new arrivals doing much of the grunt work, other workers are allowed to specialize in a field, allowing them to thrive. Finally, the so-called "immigration surplus" holds that the economy must benefit from the uptick in goods and services used by the new arrivals.

Bad news, Dan. I and my blue collar buds did all those jobs that American supposedly won't do. No field work, of course; not much of that in the inner cities. But that work, too, used to be done by Americans. In fact President Eisenhower had to warn Lyndon Johnson & friends to stop undercutting Americans with illegals. Cesar Chavez, who along with Dolores Huerta founded the United Farmworkers Association, was against illegals, and for the same reason that Eisenhower warned Johnson about.

Also, if we look at the job fairs that follow large-scale INS raids, we learn that Americans absolutely will do many of those jobs, if only they know that they're available.

    ‘Now Hiring Must Be Mexican’:
Burger King Reveals Important Details Behind That Sign Going Viral

    Nov. 13, 2013 Oliver Darcy TheBlaze.com
Burger King said Wednesday that a viral photo circulating on the Internet showing a franchise’s “Now Hiring Must Be Mexican” sign is old and was dealt with “last summer.”

The popular fast food franchise declined to disclose the location of the sign, but told TheBlaze it was posted by a disgruntled employee.

“The signage in question took place at a franchisee owned and operated restaurant,” Burger King said in an email. “The signage was unauthorized and posted briefly and photographed last summer by a former restaurant employee.”

“We have been informed by the franchisee that immediate actions were taken to terminate the employee responsible,” the fast food company added. “BKC has a long history of dedication to diversity and inclusion. Diversity is a driving force behind both our innovation and an inclusive environment for our people — employees, franchisees, suppliers and restaurant guests alike.”

The sign was posted by Facebook user Larry Camden, according to radio station KFFM, and went viral on the Internet. Hundreds of users have left comments on Burger King’s Facebook page conveying their outrage over the sign.

“Here’s a sign for you,” wrote Susan Steele. “‘Now Buying Must Not Be Burger King’ – I’ll never purchase so much as a french fry from you’re [sic] stores ever again.”

“Really glad there is a Steak & Shake right across the street from BK,” Anthony West wrote. “I know where I’m eating from now on… Not BK.”
Still some showed support for the fast food chain.

“I am going to Burger King for lunch,” wrote Scott Christianson. “I am not going to ‘punish’ a corporation for the act of a few.”

People are not worried about the person that posted this sign and will find now comfort in the fact the person posting it was fired. What people are concerned about is that some fast food places like McDonalds and Burger King often have trouble hiring anyone but Mexicans!

That is why the sign has gone viral you numb nuts! It has not gone viral due to people's outrage and some perceived racial insensitive. It went viral because "Must Be Mexican" is the truth in many company hiring practices these days!

How hard would it be to say, "Would you like fries with that"? Anybody who's travelled outside this country knows how easy it is to learn a few basic phrases - if people really want to. You'd think that people who have sneaked into this country would be eager to fit in. Unfortunately we have Demos counting noses and Repubs counting campaign contributions - and neither group counting unemployed or underemployed Americans.
