Thread: The history of the words "La Raza"

FYI:

As a proud U.S. citizen who lived in Mexico for 30 years here are some facts of the words "La Raza".

The word "Raza" has a negative connotation in Mexico. It is used to refer to minorities who have Brown skin, or have indigenous race. It is mostly used to refer to the uneducated rif-raf who do manual labor. That word traveled to the U.S. during the bracero program who's men used it with pride as a way to refer to people with similar background, race, culture as their own. The words "Raza" continues to be used by people of Brown skin to refer to people of their own race.

Therefore "La Raza" is not a common word in Mexico. It is not used to refer to "People" in general. That word would be "gente". In Mexico and in the U.S., "La Raza" has a race connotation since it is used to refer to people of brown skin. The difference is that in Mexico the word has a negative connotation (minorities), while in the U.S. it has a superiority connotation.

MY UNDERSTANDING OF THE ORIGIN OF "LA RAZA" IS THAT IT CAME OUT OF "EL DIA DE LA RAZA". WHEN THE SPANISH RAPED THE INDIGENOUS PEOPLES OF WHAT IS NOW LATIN AMERICA.

THE CHILDREN BORN OUT OF THAT RAPE WERE NEITHER INDIGENOUS NOR SPANISH. THEY WERE NOT ACCEPTED BY EITHER. THEY HAD NO IDENTITY. THEY WERE SEEN AS A SEPARATE RACE OF PEOPLES. THOUGH THEY WERE NOT A SEPARATE RACE, BUT A COMBINATION OF TWO RACES, THEY WERE STILL SEEN AS A SEPARATE RACE.

THEY SAW "DIA DE LA RAZA" AS THE BIRTH OF THEIR NEW RACE OF PEOPLE.

I BELIEVE THAT THEIR OUTWARD EXPRESSION OF SUPERIORITY IS TO COMPENSATE FOR THEIR INNER FEELINGS OF INFERIORITY. HAVING ALWAYS BEEN SHUNNED BY THE INDIGENOUS PEOPLES AND THE SPANISH.

DONT FORGET THAT THE FIRST GENERATION OF THIS "NEW RACE" WERE CHILDREN THAT WERE OUTCAST FROM THEIR OWN FAMILIES. SO THOSE FEELINGS OF INFERIORITY HAVE BEEN PASSED DOWN THROUGH THE GENERATIONS.

I THINK THAT THEIR HATRED OF WHITE EUROPEANS WAS BORN OUT OF THIS HISTORY. WHITE EUROPEANS BEING THE SPANISH.

They will never be superior. In their own minds maybe but in reality they are just uneducated, law breaking, freebie mongers, and racist fools who live off the "white" man while spewing their racist propoganda. They'll never own America and they'll never take back Aztlan because even though they breed like crazy there will come a point when they will bankrupt the state they live in like california and ruin it for everyone because there was a time before welfare and there will be a time when it no longer exists thanks to them because Americans will no longer pay in to the system and then where will they be? It's the "white" man who created the social services they take for granted, it's the "white" man who lets their kids have a free education, it's the "white" man who feeds their kids and puts them in nike's and the latest fashions they pay for with their welfare checks and instead of being grateful they hate the "white" man when it's the "white" man who has given these people more than their own country has ever given them.

And when I say "white" man I mean Americans. As in all they see is "white", it's them vs. the "white" man. They don't see that there are blacks, asians, other europeans who grace our land. It's them vs. the "white" man and it's so ridiculous. They use the "white" man as an excuse because they have an inferiority complex and they use the "white" man as an excuse for their failures because there will never again be a great a nation as the USA and they envy us or else why would they be here?

As I was reading your post I couldn't help but see the banner where the sign says that ALL EUROPEANS ARE ILLEGAL SINCE 1492. That says so much because they don't realize where part of their history comes from. They don't speak mexican they speak spanish. If they spoke the language of their land then they would speak mayan or another dialect yet they speak spanish. They are ignorant to their own culture and don't even realize it because their anger has blinded them.

Blaming whitey is a cop out, it's a cop out for all minorities. But whitey doesn't exist. Is there racism, Yes. But is it just "whitey"? No there is such a thing as reverse racism. Were blacks treated poorly. Definitely. But if left in Africa how many would have been killed in a genocide by their own people? Am I saying that slavery was right? No. The point is that in africa it's black vs. black. It's strong vs. weak and it's blacks killing blacks. Yet the blacks aren't being portrayed in the same light as "whitey". Isn't it worse when you're enslaved by your own people? But it's washed over as if it doesn't matter but whitey gets blamed for the troubles of the world. Who is whitey and where can I find him? Whitey is a myth and does not exist. There are people with white skin, yes. But what is white? I know of caucasian people, all of whom are not racist. Are some? Yes. Are some blacks racist? Yes. Mexican? Definitely. It's the envy of the success of the USA that was built by Americans who at the time most of their skin was white and because of their successes it has been the mission of those who can't ever attain but who must take from the USA that has perpetuated the belief that the failures of the minorities in this country is whitey's fault, that's how they cope with their inferiority by trying to change the face of this nation to fit their own and they can't do it through fighting or through policy or through intelligence their only hope is to out breed and they have a sense of pride that they will breed us out which is their only hope. I feel sad for them because it's a desperate attempt and they'll never succeed.

IF YOU JUST SEE HUMAN BEINGS AS PEOPLE (WITHOUT COLOR) IT BECOMES CLEAR THAT BLAMING WHITE PEOPLE, WHO WERE NOT EVEN ALIVE AT THE TIME, IS RIDICULOUS.

AND MY PERSONAL FAVORITE IS WHEN THEY SAY WE STOLE THEIR LAND...LOL. HOW DID THEY GET THE LAND? UMMM...THE SPANISH TOOK IT FROM THE INDIANS. AND THEN MEXICO WON INDEPENDENCE FROM SPAIN. SO THEN THE LAND IS THEIRS? WELL THAT IS HOW THEY DID THINGS IN THOSE DAYS. THEIR ANCESTORS TOOK THE LAND. THEN ON TOP OF THAT THEY SOLD THE LAND. SO THE LONG AND THE SHORT OF IT.....IT IS OK WHEN THEY TAKE THE LAND, BUT NOT WHEN IT IS TAKEN FROM THEM.

That is how it is with them about everything. We had one family living here, and they were certainly the worst so far that we have seen come through here. This girl who kept pretending to be my youngest daughters friend, told my son one day that he was a racist. Out of the blue, no reason for her to have said this, and retorted to her that by making a statement like that showed she was actually the one who was a racist, as racism was on her mind since he had not even spoken to her that day.

This girl burst out in tears and went to her father and said my son had called her a racist, for no reason. She failed to mention she had opened that dialogue without provocation. When he was told how things had actually transpired, he came back with "that's just not fair for him to talk to her like that" (he never once looked to her for this problem).

They always want it fair for "them" but do not want to see how they treat others is totally wrong.

Remeber their motto "For the race everything. For those outside the race, nothing."

And they talk about how the AMERICAN people are "RACIEST"???
What the heck, is this sheeeeeet????
I can not stand it when someone says you are "RACIEST" but, then they are in their "OWN" little gang, LARAZA, is no more than mexican mafia, or worse. This COUNTRY will not be TURNED over to them.
