Per Joe, a pardon would have meant serving a minimum of 5 years in prison. A commutation means they are being released for time served. They will be released on March 20th.

Does anyone know if after they are home, they can get their names cleared? I know that within a certain time frame most felonies can be expunged.

As well, how does Texas stand on letting them have their voting rights back?

In Oregon, I believe even convicted felons can vote, however, certainly not own guns.

The thing that bothers me is knowing their families and themselves to be under great threat, even more so with them coming home, that moving will be difficult, they might own homes, but in this climate can they sell and gain enough to move away to a safer location? If they move, how is the job outlook for them, and what if they had to rent?

Although I am very glad they are freed, what Bush has done is simply send them home, but to a life so tainted, it can yet still cause so much damage to the families.

I think we now need to pray they will be able to be successful, no matter, or that the convictions can be completely overthrown and their records set straight.

I can add nothing to your joyful exuberance.....the same celebration is
going on in my family. I wish it could be tomorrow but at least this
nightmare for our guys will soon be over.

Hi Dixie, hope you are doing well!

I couldn't believe my ears - I was actually yelling the news to my husband - who couldn't believe it either. Then we sat next to the radio until we heard the full story - lol! Just like people in the 50's.

I was listening to Rush and during a commercial break the dipshits on ABC news radio claim the Agents "killed" the worthless drug dealer. Do these people have any idea at all?

They still have felony records, both are unemployed and the amount of grief the Ramos and Compean families have endured has been immeasurable. Nonetheless, it's far better to have done two inside than than have done two inside with ten more on the horizon.

I wish both these guys the best of luck and much happiness.
