I agree with the writer, but after the election there will be 567 people in D.C. that sees themselves as a large part of the nation's leadership team. The President is only one of them, and he may not even have a supportive V.P.

For Trump or anyone else to assume to be bullet proof he needs a major landslide election, like 66% of the popular vote. Or we need all Senators ranning for reelection defeated with at least 218 of the House defeated so that the message cannot be argued. I do not see Americans delivering either of those needs.
