RedState: home turf of Tancredo haters & Pence supporte
RedState.com bills itself as a Republican community weblog and claims that it is "dedicated to strengthening the hand of conservatives, and conservatism, in the Republican Party". However, if your name is Tom Tancredo or one is a supporter of Cong. Tancredo, then there is an exception to the above principles.
At RedState.com, if you love the Mike Pence immigration proposal, you have favored status. Anyone that bashes Cong. Tancredo's immigration views is especially welcome to post.
Please visit RedState.com and let your support for Cong. Tancredo be known and your opposition to the Pence immigration plan be know.
Among diary entries by members of RedState that were placed under the heading of "Recommended Diaries" were the following: 1) "Republicans who make the party worse" (this diary entry includes Tancredo on the list and can be accessed by using the following link: http://redstate.com/story/2006/6/11/153750/396) and 2) "Tancredo & Buchanan Trying to Defeat Conservative Republicans" (this diary entry can be accessed by using the following link: http://www.redstate.com/story/2006/6/9/2133/25011).
The dislike of Tancredo supporters by RedState can be demonstrated by reading the last comment in a diary entry entitled "Tancredo welcomes Bilray [sic] to the Immigration Reform Caucus". Copied below is the thread from that diary entry:
Tancredo welcomes Bilray to the Immigration Reform Caucus
By: raider · Section: Diaries
It is very encouraging to see Representative-Elect Brian Bilbray join Rep. Tom Tancredo's Immigration Reform Caucus as its ninety-eighth (98th) member. It especially pleasing to see that Representative-Elect Bilbray did not even wait until he was officially sworn in to join Cong. Tancredo's caucus.
I am glad to see that Representative-Elect Bilbray will be joining with Rep. Tancredo to fight the notion that there must be "comprehensive immigration reform" before this nation's borders are secured and before there is serious enforcement of the laws already on the books prohibiting the employment of illegal aliens. President Bush, Ted Kennedy, Hillary Clinton, John Kerry, John McCain and apparently Mike Pence all support this version of "comprehensive immigration reform". I expect Representative-Elect Bilbray to be loyal to Rep. Sensenbrenner's approach to the illegal alien problem. His approach, like that of Rep. Tancredo and the overwhelming majority of House Republicans, is that our nation's borders must be secured and laws against employing illegal aliens vigorously enforced before any guest worker program is enacted.
Here is a link to Rep. Tancredo's press release welcoming Representative-Elect Bilbray to his Rep. Tancredo's Immigration Reform Caucus: http://www.tancredo.house.gov/press/PRA ... ewsID=1200.

The title of the above post should read: "Tancredo welcomes Bilbray to the Immigration Reform Caucus". I accidentally left out the second "b" in Representative-Elect Brian Bilbray's last name in the title of the above post.

Let me tell you what we don't need. By: Leon H Wolf
We don't need someone to run to RedState every time Tom Tancredo issues a new press release. In fact, just so I'm sufficiently explicit, knock it off. If you have anything unique to say (that is, something besides how great Tancredo is), feel free to post about that. If Tom Tancredo does something unique (which is to say, something besides slam other Republicans on immigration), feel free to post about that. In the meantime, quit wasting diary space.
Regards,
Management.

The key word is "Republican."
You should realize that any time a website emphasizes-repeatedly-its affiliation with the Republican Party conservative activists are not welcome. Red State is essentially a more sophisticated, slightly more civil version of Free Republic. In fact, one of their primary contributors-Nick Danger-is a long-time FReeper.
Their excoriation of Michelle Malkin-for committing the cardinal sin of having offended their wunderkind cum plagiarist Ben Domenach-made my blood boil.
Here's the pertinent thread:

Welcome, all. I have accepted an invitation to be a “conservative” poster here on the site. I look forward to the opportunity to contribute here, and engaging in dialogue.
A little bit about myself - I am currently a law student at Vanderbilt University, which I consider to be the greatest school on earth. For the summer, I am doing research work for some of my professors. In accordance with this work, I will be constrained from posting on certain topics, although the only two that I can imagine presenting a problem for this site are Net Neutrality and Global Warming.
I am also a rather busy person, and I haven’t yet bought one of the time manipulators that Armando uses to give him all the time he has to post, or to engage in comments. I will try to do as much of both as my time will permit, however.
One other word - I will do my best to refrain from saying things that are personally insulting to anyone on the site. I realize that many of the things I say will probably be ideologically offensive to many of you. I don’t mind if you get offended - I don’t mind if you say insulting things about me, or my mother, or disparage my basic humanity. Just please be aware that I have a tendency to just skim over those comments. Don’t take it personally.
Cheers!"
