Rep Eric Cantor’s Pro-Amnesty Position May Be Catching Up With Him

Posted on 7 June, 2014 by Rick Wells

While House Majority Leader Eric Cantor claims in his campaigning to be anti-amnesty for illegal aliens, the details and his positions belie those claims.
Asked in an interview with CBS6, what the country could do about its illegal aliens and the child illegals now surging into the U.S., Cantor’s “solution” was to legalize them.
In his typical word-parsing manner, Cantor claimed to be anti-amnesty when he is actually pro-amnesty, with some stated objections to the Senate bill. He apparently thinks the voters in Virginia won’t notice the distinction.
Cantor told the reporter, Bill Fitzgerald, that if Obama could demonstrate to him that he could be trusted, he could then work with him to grant illegal alien children amnesty.
That illustrates another good reason not to vote for Cantor. If he is really so naïve as to believe that Obama can be trusted on anything, then he is obviously too gullible to be in any position of responsibility, let alone representing thinking Americans in Congress.
He is most likely just being deliberately deceptive. Cantor is asking for a political handout from Obama, a way to pass the amnesty he wants without taking a political hit. He could well be in the process of taking that hit now, in the form of the candidacy of his conservative challenger, Dave Brat.
Cantor said in the Fitzgerald interview, “I have told the President there are some things that we can work on together. We can work on the border security bill together. We can work on things like the Kids.”
Piecemeal amnesty, Mr. Cantor, that is what you and Obama would be working on together.
Cantor has a piece of legislation, his “Kids Act,” which targets illegal alien children for amnesty, after which the liberals, himself included, would surely be crying, “you can’t break up the families” in the blanket amnesty which would undoubtedly be next on the table.
In spite of his claims of supporting Americans, Cantor is clearly a RINO, Democrat-lite, as his participation at the George Soros-funded Amelia Island Florida retreat reveals. One of the objectives of that event was, in addition to defeating true conservative candidates, the passage of amnesty for illegal aliens.
In arguing for anchor-child amnesty, Cantor said that “one of the great founding principles of our country was that children would not be punished for the mistakes of their parents.” Those mistakes, Mr. Cantor are violations of the law and unfortunate as it may be, the children are in violation of the law as well.
Those who created the situation are the parents and their native countries, not the America citizens whose national sovereignty has been violated. We are not responsible for correcting their bad choices.
Cantor’s conservative opponent, Dave Brat characterizes the race saying, “The central policy issue in this race has become Cantor’s absolute determination to pass an amnesty bill. Cantor is the No. 1 cheerleader in Congress for amnesty. This is not the Republican way to fix our economy and labor markets.”
A Daily Caller poll reports that Brat has picked up eleven points on Cantor in the last week due largely to the exposure of his true position on amnesty. The poll placed him with a 52 to 39 percentage edge over his anti-amnesty opponent, Dave Brat, with voting slated for this Tuesday.

Anyone who does not believe that amnesty and legal or illegal immigrants are not an unspoken policy of republicans needs to look at the historical action or inaction of the last three republican administrations.

Democrat or republican, just different names for the same bacteria, destructive bacteria like influenza that needs curing or eradication! I'd say we let both parties get too far for curing, eradication is the answer!

You may be speaking about party leadership, but when it comes to the Republican party you certainly aren't talking about the majority. If you were, we would have had an another amnesty years ago. The majority of conservatives in the U.S. Congress do not support amnesty for illegal immigrants. I know it seem that way at times, but it's just not so. However, I won't deny that a majority of them may support a more liberal guest worker program though. It seem the Dems won't give them a more liberal guest worker program without an amnesty involved. It's basically amounts to a stale-mate right now....... the majority of Republicans don't support an amnesty and the majority of Dems won't support a more liberal guest worker program without an amnesty. Oh, and for the record, I certainly don't support a more liberal guest worker program!
