Report: Dem Operatives Expect 'Emergency Meeting' to 'CONSIDER' Replacing Hillary

    September 12, 2016

The Washington Post's Chris Cillizza admitted on Sunday that Clinton's health has become a major campaign issue. Superficially, this seems to support Republican nominee Donald Trump, but the practical effect might actually bolster the hopes of Libertarian nominee Gary Johnson. Johnson, as a former governor of New Mexico, would arguably become the most qualified presidential candidate, despite his recent stumble answering a question about the city of Aleppo in Syria.

Were Hillary to drop out of the race, Republicans terrified of her becoming president might consider breaking with Trump. This could seriously bolster Johnson, who has recently polled above 10 percent in 42 states, and above 15 percent in 15 states. Depending on whom the Democrats pick, some would-be Clinton voters may also defect, pushing Johnson into the mid-twenties. This might not be enough to give him a true shot, but it might seriously impact the race.

Expect the 2016 election to become even more surprising than it already has been. Even if Clinton remains in the race, her numbers are likely to drop after these incidents. A race where the Democrat was solidly in the lead becomes a full toss-up, and perhaps even tilts in Trump's favor. Also, there is no guarantee that the release of Hillary's health records — and the resulting mistrust of her doctor — would not lead to increased scrutiny on Trump's medical professionals.

Could both candidates fall under scrutiny? Could one of the major parties lose its candidate in the last two months before the election? Could the Democrat replacement of Hillary Clinton defeat Donald Trump in November? One thing is certain — America will be on its toes until the final ballot. Vote wisely.

Cokie Roberts: Dems 'Nervously Beginning to Whisper' About Hillary Stepping Aside

Cokie Roberts: Dems 'Nervously Beginning to Whisper' About Hillary Stepping Aside

    September 12, 2016

Hillary Clinton's health issues have establishment Democrats "nervously beginning to whisper" about finding a replacement for her should she need to "step aside," according to one prominent political commentator.

During an appearance on NPR’s “Morning Edition” Monday morning, ABC's Cokie Roberts said some in the party were already having discussions about such a possibility.

Asked how Democrats were reacting to Clinton's collapse at the 9/11 memorial ceremony Sunday, Roberts said that "people are angry at the lack of transparency." She added, "It was hours before the pneumonia diagnosis was revealed after seeing this incredibly damaging video of her being helped and stumbling into a van."

Roberts explained that the reason the Clinton campaign has "not been transparent" (her polite euphemism for lying) is because her health issues give Donald Trump ammunition.

"He has been setting her up for this for months," she said. "Back in January, he said she didn't have the strength and stamina to be president." Roberts opined that Trump "knew that at some point in the campaign schedule [Clinton] -- like all candidates -- would get exhausted."

“The fact that it comes now when the polls are tightening and Democrats are already saying that Hillary was the only candidate who could not beat Trump and it is taking her off of the campaign trail, canceling her trip to California – it has them very nervously beginning to whisper about having her step aside and finding another candidate.”

Roberts maintained that this scenario was “unlikely to be a real thing,” but went on to float Vice President Joe Biden as a possible replacement.

“I think it is unlikely to be a real thing,” she said. “And I’m sure it is an overreaction of an already skittish party. But you know, they have looked at what happens in that circumstance. The Democratic National Committee chair convenes the committee and they vote. Now ironically, the candidate who everybody looks at is Joe Biden, who is older than Hillary Clinton. But then again, so is Donald Trump and by the way we know nothing about his health.”

Dems Plan for Hillary’s Health-Related Exit

Joe Biden may get his big chance after stepping aside for Clinton

    Updated 12 Sep 2016 at 12:16 PM

In the wake of Hillary Clinton’s Sunday collapse at a 9/11 memorial ceremony, Democrat leaders are asking: “What if … ?” “What if she hasn’t been candid and is a lot sicker than they thought?” “What if it becomes apparent that she is too weak to campaign vigorously?”

“What if we have to reconsider her nomination because she chooses to step aside?”

"Clarification from dem operatives @HillaryClinton pneumonia: Expect emergency DNC meeting to CONSIDER replacement," MSNBC David Shuster tweeted Sunday evening.

The Clinton camp has insisted the nominee has no serious health problems and that attention to the issue amounts to right-wing conspiracy-mongering. But the latest incident has even mainstream media outlets like The Washington Post finally acknowledging the legitimacy of Clinton's health concerns as an election issue.

"Hillary Clinton’s health just became a real issue in the presidential campaign," read a Washington Post headline after the Clinton collapse Sunday.

The once unthinkable idea of the scandal-marred 2016 bid of Hillary Clinton being prematurely ended by a medical collapse has suddenly become an actual possibility. Democrats would have to be ready to replace her atop their ticket.

The move would be unprecedented on the presidential level in modern history, but despite the fact some states are already voting and most have certified ballots, the precedents that do exist suggest Dems could still pull off a nominee swap. A move like that could clear the way for a Democratic white knight candidate like Vice President Joe Biden.

The rules of the party itself are straightforward enough. The Democratic Party chair could call a special meeting to fill a vacancy on the national ticket. But the ballots already have been certified in a majority of states.

Based on precedent in non-presidential races, though, the party likely would be able to force states to change their ballots anyway.

"There’s been plenty of times a party has changed nominees as late as October, and the courts have always allowed it," said Richard Winger, who runs a website call Ballot Access News.

The most recent high-profile candidate switch occurred in 2002, when scandal-plagued Sen. Robert Torricelli, trailing in the polls by double digits, dropped out 36 days before the election. It was past the statutory deadline, and Republicans objected. But the New Jersey Supreme Court blessed the move, and former Sen. Frank Lautenberg went on to reclaim his old seat.

"What really matters here is the voters have to be allowed to be the boss of the country," he said.

And if worse came to worst, Winger said, a withdrawn candidate’s name could remain on the ballot and electors chosen to vote in the Electoral College could vote for the replacement candidate. A handful of states have laws attempting to block electors from voting for a candidate other than the one to whom they are pledged. But Winger said he doubts those laws would survive legal challenges.

"Those are not enforceable," he said. "State law cannot overrule the Constitution."

For what it’s worth, according to Ballotpedia, here are the ballot-certification deadlines that already have passed:

    • Alabama, Sept. 6.
    • Alaska, Sept. 1.
    • Colorado, Sept. 9.

I think this whole idea of replacing a candidate because they got pneumonia is crazy. Talk about kick a horse when it's down, this is the damn KING OF KICKING A HORSE WHEN IT'S DOWN. If she was coughing because of pneumonia, then she's been suffering with it for months. She lost her voice and had these coughs during the primary. She should have gone to a doctor then, she's been taking medication for allergies which is not the right medication to treat pneumonia. Hopefully, the antibiotics will work and if it was pneumonia and not something else, she should recover.

That all said, I don't think she has the amazing energy and stamina of Donald Trump. Most people don't, even those much younger, he's quite extraordinary in that regard. Hillary should be voted against because of her policies, her support for open borders, her support for TPP, her support to raise taxes, her support for foreign war and entanglements, her disdain for most Americans, her bad judgment, her lack of actual knowledge needed to fix our country. She knows nothing of good strategy, she knows nothing about business, she knows nothing about hardships these days that most Americans and businesses are struggling with, she cares nothing about the actual threats against the United States or American Citizens.

I am guessing she didn't get her pneumonia shot the government and Dr.s are always pushing. Anyone else remember Baynor saying not to trust the democrats they would be throwing Bydon in at the last minute. She has something besides pneumonia this woman is very ill and has been for some time. Half the time she looks lost and has no idea what is going on. It was obvious from the beginning. Most likely why they have kept her in hiding all these months. She is just a puppet anyway for the elite and wealthy.
