Beneficiaries of temporary work status should be required to pay at least a $2,000 fine for their illegal conduct and perform 10 hours of community service.
Or we could just sell citizenship on Ebay.

Poll after poll shows that Americans believe in strong border security and in bringing undocumented immigrants out of the shadows. For example, 81 percent of Americans favor legalizing undocumented immigrants, according to a CNN poll.
That's strange, because every other poll shows that Americans - including Latinos - are becoming increasingly concerned about illegals.

i wonder the specific language used in order to get 81 percent.
and how the ethnic and racial background it was divided upon.
i mean i can see 81 if the only people polled were dems, or maybe all of em were latino/hispanic.

but i dont see 81 if you ask the simple question.
do you favor amnesty for illegal aliens.

The fine print from the "CNN Poll."

But the survey indicates that 57 percent of Americans say the main focus of the federal government in dealing with the issue of illegal immigration should be developing a plan that would stop the flow of illegal immigrants into the country and deporting those already in the U.S. That's 15 points higher than the 42 percent who say developing a plan that would allow illegal immigrants who have jobs to become U.S. residents should be Washington's top priority.

    Really?

    35. What should be the main focus of the U.S. government in dealing with the issue of illegal immigration -- developing a plan that would allow illegal immigrants who have jobs to become legal U.S. residents, or developing a plan for stopping the flow of illegal immigrants into the U.S. and for deporting those already here?

Allow to become legal residents 38%
    Stop illegals/deport those here 60%
    No opinion 2%

How could things completely turn around from May to July? CNN is manipulating polls.

Even if it were all Dems polled, there is no way the 81% figure is accurate. I have read Zogby polls that show the greatest criticism of illegal immigration actually comes from Democrats, blacks, and women. The difference is that these groups tend to put other issues ahead of illegal immigration, and their leadership is completely out of sinc with them on immigration.

The writer of this article has an agenda to tie Third World interests to the free market principles of the Rep Party. There is a connection indeed, as there is with free trade. Which is why laissez faire capitalism is certainly not the answer to everything.

This is a nation, not a marketplace.

What a load of crap. I'm sure they polled illegal aliens in this one, because in no way do 81 percent of us Americans favor amnesty.
