Rev. Graham: God Intervened Nov. 8 to Stop 'Atheistic, Progressive Agenda' in America

Commenting on Tuesday's presidential election, Reverend Franklin Graham said the media and political pundits do not understand what happened because they do not understand the "God-factor," the power of prayer, and added that "God intervened" on Nov. 8 "to stop the godless, atheistic, progressive agenda from taking control of our country."

In a Nov. 10 post on Facebook, Rev. Graham wrote, "Did God show up? In watching the news after the election, the secular media keep asking 'How did this happen?' 'What went wrong?' 'How did we miss this?' Some are in shock. Political pundits are stunned. Many thought the Trump/Pence ticket didn’t have a chance. None of them understand the God-factor."

"Hundreds of thousands of Christians from across the United States have been praying," said Rev. Graham. "This year they came out to every state capitol to pray for this election and for the future of America."
"Prayer groups were started," he said. "Families prayed. Churches prayed. Then Christians went to the polls, and God showed up."

"While the media scratches their heads and tries to understand how this happened, I believe that God’s hand intervened Tuesday night to stop the godless, atheistic progressive agenda from taking control of our country," said Rev. Graham, the son of world-renowned pastor Billy Graham.

"President-elect Donald J. Trump and Vice President-elect Mike Pence are going to need a lot of help and they will continue to need a lot of prayer," he said. "I pray that President-elect Trump will surround himself with godly men and women to help advise and counsel him as he leads the nation."

"My prayer is that God will bless America again!" said the reverend.

Franklin Graham, 64, runs the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association (BGEA) and the international Christian relief group Samaritan's Purse. Graham is married and has five children. He frequently preaches in the United States and abroad, and comments on current affairs on television, radio and in print.

Last night was a real November surprise for a lot of people! In the biggest political upset of our lifetime, the American people elected Donald J. Trumpand Mike Pence to lead our nation. I congratulate them this morning!

This election has been long, it's been tough, and it's been divisive. It's time to put that behind us. Now is the time to come together in unity and work together. Our nation has so many problems that need fixing. Even more important are the spiritual needs of our country. Whether we are rich or poor, without Jesus Christ we are the most desperately in need, the poorest of the poor. We cannot ignore His hand and His supreme authority.

One thing is for sure, we need to pray for our new president, vice president, and our other leaders every day–whether we agree with them or not. They need God’s help and direction. It is my prayer that we will truly be "one nation under God." Will you commit with me to pray for them every day?

    Matthew 19:26
But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.
