Senator Dewine of Ohio. Worthless.
Here is My Senators response. Oh he is in McCain/Kennedy's corner for sure.
September 16, 2005
Dear Randall:
Thank you for contacting me with your views regarding illegal immigration.
I agree that illegal immigration is a very serious problem and appreciate
knowing your views.
Currently, there are approximately 11 million undocumented aliens in the
United States, with close to 1 million more arriving every year. Our
current immigration system is broken. It is a system that is not good for
American security, particularly during our fight to combat international
terrorism. It is not good for American workers and businesses. And, it
is not good for the immigrants themselves.
I am committed to changing our current system. In fact, there are
currently two bills pending in the Senate Judiciary Committee that would
do just that. The Secure America and Orderly Immigration Act (S. 1033)
and the Comprehensive Enforcement and Immigration Reform Act of 2005 (S.
143 are both comprehensive attempts to enhance our border security,
eliminate the flood of illegal immigration, and create new avenues for
foreign workers to enter the United States legally. As a member of the
Judiciary Committee, which oversees immigration issues, I have already
participated in a hearing on these bills, and in the weeks and months to
come, I will continue to carefully monitor this legislation.
In the meantime, I have been working to improve our immigration system,
one matter at a time. On March 17, 2005, as part of the FY06 Budget
Resolution, I voted in support of the Lieberman/Collins Amendment that
increased spending by $865 million on first responder programs, port
security programs, and the hiring of 1,000 more border patrol agents. In
May of this year, I voted for the Real ID Act as part of the Emergency
Supplemental bill (Public Law No: 109-13). This Act addresses a range of
immigration issues, including new security standards for state driver's
license and identification documents, as well as timely completion of a
large section of fence that divides the southern border of San Diego and
Mexico.
Again, thank you for contacting me. If you have any additional concerns,
please feel free to contact me anytime.
Very respectfully yours,
MIKE DeWINE
United States Senator

I'm sorry if this guy is one of your Senators. He's one of the RINO 7 of the gang of 14, the folks that pulled off that filibuster crap this spring.
I heard that his son was running for some state office in Ohio and was in danger of losing because his dad's (former) supporters wanted to send Papa-doc a message. I hope the kid did lose.
It doesn't surprise me at all that the guy is toeing the line on "immigration".
