Perry placed all his hopes on Florida. He was expected to win big. But, by strongly supporting illegal immigration, he turned off enough voters to make Herman Cain the winner of the Florida straw poll!

Perry could muster just 15 percent of the vote, despite making an all-out effort. Even Mitt Romney, who wasn’t officially competing in the straw poll, got 14 percent.

This is the beginning of the end of Perry’s candidacy; but we should work to make sure he is not our nominee. We cannot afford to have a Republican presidential nominee who thinks a border fence is “idiocy,â€

Entirely possible Rick Perry would declare the 5th of May a National Holiday. He makes a so so Gov. He would make a lousy President.
Wait and see Herman Cain has not alienated anyone, yet , hopefully he will not. Cain has a very good shot if people will pay attention to what he has to say. Academics and theorists conducting the " business " of Government or actual people with practical experience. This is what Cain brings to the table.

    Santorum Blasts Perry on Immigration
    Saturday, 24 Sep 2011 08:56 AM

By Jim Meyers and Ashley Martella

In an exclusive Newsmax interview, former Pennsylvania Senator and Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum accuses Rick Perry of being soft on illegal immigration and launches a three-pronged attack on the Texas governor’s policies on undocumented aliens.

He also disagrees with those who say the GOP candidates shouldn’t be so outspoken in criticizing one another, saying it’s important to find out now who will be able to take the pressure of a hard-fought general election campaign.

Santorum was elected to the U.S. Senate in 1994 and re-elected in 2000, but lost his re-election bid in 2006. He spoke with Newsmax.TV after participating in Thursday night’s GOP presidential debate in Orlando, Fla.

Recent polls show Perry and Mitt Romney the clear front-runners in the race for the GOP nomination, but Santorum believes he can close the gap.
“This is not a national horse race. This is a race in individual states, one at a time, and these national polls are just a snapshot of somebody’s popularity and name identification,â€

    Delegates slam Perry on immigration

By JAMES HOHMANN | 9/24/11 11:21 PM EDT

ORLANDO, Fla.—Rick Perry hit a roadblock on immigration at Florida’s Presidency 5 straw poll on Saturday.

An issue that may have less impact in other early-state Republican primaries, immigration is a hot-button issue in Florida — and Perry’s botched attempt to explain his policies back home in Texas during Thursday’s Fox News debate has soured conservative activists here on him.

In interview after interview as they filed out of the Orange County Convention Center hall where votes were cast, delegates pointed to his support for a state-based version of the DREAM Act — which provides in-state tuition rates to some illegal immigrants — and his denouncement of those who disagree as lacking “a heart.â€

It isn't even so much a vote for Herman Cain as much as a vote against the GOP RINO' S who think they can dictate who runs and who doesn't. Do they think none of us noticed how the debates were monopolized so far with their favorite picks....It looks to me that in each place they take a straw poll a different candidate wins and not the appointed ones..what does that tell you.
