Fiery Firefight In El Pozo, Sinaloa, MF And La Chapiza Clash Over Control Of The El Pozo Plaza Territory. ~ Borderland Beat

    VIDEO TRANSLATION

To inform you that since around 5:30 a.m. this Wednesday, residents of the community of Pozo, located east of the city of Culiacán, reported to the 1911 dispatch a series of shootings and clashes in what is the central area of this community. Until this morning's newscast, we did not know the exact number of... the outcome of this clash between these armed groups.

It was also reported that it was unknown whether there were any deaths or injuries, but what was confirmed was that these heavy shootings had indeed occurred, and that authorities had not yet arrived. As of this morning's newscast, what we have been told by residents and also by authorities in this area is that this began around 5:30 a.m. when a group An armed group broke into a country-style home located a few meters from the small square or the sports courts of this community, also a few meters from the church in this area, where the armed group apparently exchanged gunfire after shooting at a residence or a house, orange and tile-colored. Well, no deaths were reported at this location. The bullets that hit this property are more than 100, according to the authorities, who recovered around 150 shell casings from this site. It was also reported that the bullets with thick tails went through the glass, the windows, and also some parts of the doors of what is now the door frame, some furniture, and the interior, like a living room, a mirror, as well as a refrigerator and a table, were completely destroyed by the fire caused by the hail of bullets that entered from these sides. This front of this building. And what has been reported is that there were apparently no people in that place at the time of the attack. What has been reported is that apparently when the armed group was attacking the house, another opposing group arrived and exchanged gunfire with them.

Apparently, this confrontation lasted for several streets in the Pozo community until the exit to Culiacán. In the welcome arch, traces of several dozen shell casings from long-range weapons of various calibers were left, which suggests that there was another clash between these two opposing groups at that site. There were also signs of an explosion on the pavement, apparently from a homemade device. And above all, the pavement for several kilometers from this Pozo community to Mesquitita, there were traces of drag marks from two flat tires from a vehicle. Also, on this pavement, They found remains of all-terrain tires and also fragments of what constitutes the armor of these tires. It is a hard plastic, some hard plastic rims that were left lying on the pavement, completely destroyed, which leads us to assume that the vehicle, when it was being pursued with gunfire, had its tires cut out and were left on the asphalt. In what is known as the Mezquitita community, behind a well-known supermarket in the area known as LA, a truck was found on fire. This vehicle is a four-door pickup truck, apparently similar to a Ford truck. This vehicle was completely destroyed, and at first glance, it was evident that it had homemade armor. The tires that were left on this road, the fragments of armor, were probably from this vehicle that was being pursued by the hitmen. It was also reported that no people were found inside the vehicle, nor were there any injuries. What is known is that hundreds of bushings on this pavement and onDuring the proceedings that personnel from the State Attorney General's Office are still conducting in this area, two Mexican Air Force planes are flying overhead, providing security for the team on the ground. This is to prevent any incident or eventuality there in the area of El Pozo Imala and also in the community of Mesquitita. So far, no further clashes have been reported, nor have any attacks by armed groups toward the authorities in this area. What they are saying is that they are very soon about to lift the truck and take it on a tow truck to the corresponding authorities. I repeat, a truck with homemade armor, of which no further details are known, only that it has multiple bullet holes in the body and, well, what's left of the armored windows is completely melted by the fire.

    BY: CHAR

As stated above by Los Noticieristas, a news site based in Sinaloa, on this early morning of Wednesday, June 4, 2025, armed clashes occurred between rival criminal groups. Moreover, it was later confirmed that the criminal groups involved in the clashes were Los Mayos/La Mayiza/MF against Los Chapitos/Los Chapos/La Chapiza. It is unknown which criminal group won the clash, as both groups claim victory after the firefight, but what can be confirmed is that the El Pozo plaza is the reason for these criminal groups' clashing over to see who gets to control the plaza. Worth noting that Imala and El Pozo, which are towns next to each other, are at least once been controlled by the Los Chapitos Cartel.

On May 29, 2025, Cartel Del Noreste or Northeast Cartel (C.D.N) published an official broadcast distancing their organization from extortion in Tamaulipas. The video is about two minutes and thirty seconds long, in which the C.D.N criminal organization claims jailed Gulf Cartel members in Tamaulipas prisons are using the 'CDN' brand for extortion. In recent weeks, Cartel Del Noreste has been active, waging war in Ciudad Victoria, Tamaulipas, now a stronghold of the Gulf Cartel Matamoros faction. Also, in the Ciudad Mier and Miguel Aleman municipalities, armed clashes against the Gulf Cartel Group Metros-CJNG have resumed.

Not to forget, CDN has also started to target law enforcement agencies once again in Tamaulipas and Nuevo Leon, who are cooperating with rivals.

This notice goes out to the citizens of Nuevo Laredo. Specifically to the general population. We want to inform the residents of Nuevo Laredo that in recent months, the number of cases related to the crime of telephone extortion has increased, affecting respected citizens who seek to earn an honest living.

It’s important to make it clear that we, the Northeast Cartel, don’t participate in or are linked to acts of extortion, kidnapping, or threats by telephone. We also don’t solicit money from the civilian population by any means. Just as well, we reaffirm our respect for people who work honestly, including business owners, transport operators, taxi drivers, social media marketers, and any other citizen who strives to get ahead.
The recent acts of extortion are being committed by prison inmates located in Ciudad Victoria, Altamira, Reynosa, and Matamoros in Tamaulipas, who operate under the orders of the Gulf Cartel. They’re falsely impersonating CDN members to confuse and frighten the population. To avoid becoming a victim of extortion, we recommend that you stay calm in case you receive a suspicious call.
Don’t provide personal, family, or banking information. Don’t make deposits or transfers. Hang up immediately and report this matter. Verify any information provided by the extortionists directly with your family. Educate minors and the elderly, who are often the most vulnerable to these scams.
Avoid answering calls from unknown numbers and denounce them. Extortionists commonly identify themselves as officials from the district attorney, the governor’s office, or delivery companies. They request that you provide or forward a code sent via WhatsApp with which they can hack your account.
They may also demand that you change the chip on your phone to cut off your communications. Do not comply with these instructions under any circumstances. We reiterate, the Cartel del Noreste doesn’t carry out extortion, nor does it solicit money or threaten citizens. We urge everyone to remain vigilant, avoid being deceived, and report these incidents to the relevant authorities. Only with information, prevention, and collaboration can we halt the spread of this crime, which affects everyone equally.

The State Prosecutor's Office located a clandestine grave in the Las Agujas neighborhood of Zapopan. The investigation has been ongoing since February. Its existence was only recently discovered when it appeared on the website of the Special Deputy Prosecutor for Missing Persons, on the list of clandestine graves located in the state.

The fenced site is in a semi-deserted area near the La Venta-Nextipac highway, behind a company that assembles electrical parts, west of Zapopan, within the Guadalajara Metropolitan Area.

When questioned about the clandestine burial site located on the Camino a Las Agujas, prosecutor Salvador González de los Santos stated that more than 160 bags containing human remains have been recorded.
"The search process is not yet complete, although no one has been found. On average, there were 169 bags, and based on the analysis of the remains found, according to the report issued by the Jalisco Institute of Forensic Sciences, they correspond to 34 people," stated González de los Santos.

Contrary to what the prosecutor stated, the website of the Special Deputy Prosecutor's Office indicates that 35 bodies have been found, of which 15 have been identified; 14 were men and one was a woman. The website indicates that the status is under investigation.

Work is being done at the site with machinery, as well as various tools and implements.

"We have dogs used to detect remains or corpses, rods are used, and ground-penetrating radars are also used to determine if human remains are still present. We're almost there to close this case," said the head of the state's law enforcement agency.

The grave was discovered at the end of February after a private company attempted to carry out construction work. While excavating, they discovered human remains, so they notified the authorities. Because of this situation, the case had not been reported.

223 bags containing human remains have been found in Las Agujas In Zapopan, Jalisco. UPDATE

THIS INFORMATION WAS POSTED BY EL OCCIDENTAL

So far, 38 victims have been classified, of which 18 have already been pre-identified. They continue working with heavy machinery.

    Román Ortega

This Wednesday, eight more bags containing human remains were found in the grave in the Las Agujas neighborhood, in the municipality of Zapopan. This brings the total to 54 since work began on the second site last Sunday, June 29, and 223 bags, including the 169 bags found on adjacent land since last February.

Maribel, a member of the Guerreros Buscadores collective of Jalisco, indicated that so far, less than a quarter of the land has been worked on, despite the work being carried out with heavy machinery.

"There hasn't been much progress. In other words, we were talking about not even a quarter of the land being worked on. Today, eight bags were found."

I think progress has been made. Well, the truth is, we only made a few meters to where we had left off yesterday, to the limit of where work was done yesterday, and I think this will take a long time, for several months, because it does indicate and hint at more pockets.”

He added that one reason why little progress was made today is because one of the two excavation machines broke down, so he hopes it will be working again by tomorrow, Thursday.

Sources close to the investigation indicate that 38 victims have been classified so far, 18 of whom have already been pre-identified through tattoos; none have been released to their families.

On Tuesday, personnel from the National Search Commission joined the search due to a lack of personnel from the State Search Commission and the high demand for work.

Members of the Luz de Esperanza collective and Lupita Aguilar, founder of the Familias Unidas por Nuestros Desaparecidos collective, also joined the search.

TikTok influencer Esmeralda Ferrer Garibay, known online as Esmeralda FG, her husband, and their two children were discovered murdered inside their pickup truck in a chilling quadruple homicide that has attracted national attention in Mexico.

On Friday, August 22, 2025, authorities uncovered an abandoned gray Ford Ranger in Guadalajara, on Jorge Delorme Street, containing the bodies of Esmeralda, 32, her husband Roberto Carlos Gil Licea, 36, their 13‑year‑old son Gael Santiago, and their 7‑year‑old daughter, Regina. Their identities were confirmed six days later, on August 28. Authorities confirmed that the family had recently moved to downtown Guadalajara.

Esmeralda had amassed a substantial following on TikTok, with approximately 22,000 followers and over 500,000 likes. Her content blended lavish displays featuring designer Her postings showcased designer labels such as Gucci and Dior, luxury cars, cosmetic surgery transformations, beach getaways, and moments with her children, Pomeranian pets, with lip-synced narco-corridos.

What set her apart was her embrace of narco-corridos, Mexican ballads glorifying drug trafficking culture. One viral video featured the phrase "Advantages of having a narco boyfriend." Her final post, published on August 7, had already garnered over 100,000 views; several others reached more than 600,000.

However, preliminary findings point to Roberto's involvement in vehicle trading and tomato farming in Michoacán as a likely motive, potentially attracting violent interest from organized crime groups. Authorities emphasize that Esmeralda's social media presence, marked by glamorous lifestyle posts and narco-themed content, is not believed to be the primary reason behind the attack.

Using CCTV footage and Ministry of Security and National Guard data, investigators traced the truck's path back to a nearby mechanic's workshop on Ejido Avenue. When authorities raided the workshop, they discovered bloodstains, spent bullet casings, and ballistic evidence, all indicating that the family was likely executed at the site before being transported in the vehicle.

Prosecutor Alfonso Gutiérrez Santillán stated, "While the forensic results are not yet in, ballistic and blood evidence almost certainly confirm they were murdered at that location. While the forensic results are not yet in, ballistic and blood evidence almost certainly confirm they were murdered at that location."

Two workshop workers, identified as Héctor Manuel Valdivia Martínez and a suspect nicknamed "El Chino," were detained but later released due to insufficient evidence. On leaving the prosecutor's office, they, along with two relatives, were abducted by an armed group. "El Chino" escaped, while the other three remain missing. Prosecutor Blanca Trujillo noted that the abductors "had been watching the exit for over two hours," underscoring the calculated nature of their actions.

Mexican Mafia Figure “Fox” Landa Connected LFM to Sureño Gangs, Accepts Plea Deal For Deportation

    By Socalj 9/29/2025 01:08:00 PM 1 comment

    "Socalj" for Borderland Beat

Jose Landa-Rodriguez, known as "Fox," a reputed member of the Mexican Mafia, has struck a plea deal, He has been imprisoned in the US since 1998 and has faced numerous cases since then including running a drug trafficking and extortion ring from within prison.

Facing charges from 2011 to 2018, including a murder plot and orchestrating a drug cartel alliance, he pled guilty to racketeering. As part of the plea deal, he will serve just two more years in prison before his deportation to Mexico.

Allegations against him included masterminding schemes within Los Angeles County jails and attempting to establish a drug pipeline with La Familia Michoacana. Recorded prison calls and testimony revealed his involvement in overseeing extortion and drug sales operations, including a scheme named Operation Dirty Thirds, which extorted funds from more than half of the Hispanic inmate population in California.

Landa-Rodriguez, was acquitted in one federal case. But was still facing life on California state charges, he struck a plea deal that will see him deported back to Mexico after serving two more years in prison.

He pleaded no contest in Los Angeles County Superior Court to making criminal threats and was sentenced to time served, his lawyer Nicholas Rosenberg said.

L.A. County prosecutors had charged that Landa-Rodriguez, while incarcerated in a federal penitentiary for illegally reentering the country, sanctioned the killing of a rival's underling.

According to trial testimony, Landa-Rodriguez was locked in a power struggle with another reputed Mexican Mafia member, Arthur "Turi" Estrada, over who would collect money from drug sales on California prison yards.

Landa-Rodriguez used coded language in an email to order a hit on an Estrada underling, prosecutors alleged. "Do not let him get into our backyards," he wrote, according to prosecutors.

    La Familia Michoacana Connection

Federal authorities alleged Landa-Rodriguez set his eyes on a racket far more lucrative than prison drug deals. In 2013, he was accused of trying to establish a methamphetamine pipeline with a cartel from his home state in western Mexico, La Familia Michoacana.

According to recorded phone calls, La Familia's leaders feared extradition and wanted the Mexican Mafia to protect them if they ended up in U.S. prisons. In exchange, the cartel promised a bottomless supply of cheap drugs that the Mexican Mafia could sell on American streets.

Landa-Rodriguez was discussing the deal with a cartel representative in recorded prison calls when another Mexican Mafia member, Ralph "Perico" Rocha, heard about the negotiations. Facing extortion charges, Rocha had secretly cut a deal for a reduced sentence. He inserted himself into the talks, arranging meetings in a bugged office building that allowed federal agents to record every word.

Suspicious that he was working for the authorities, Landa-Rodriguez told the cartel to stay away from Rocha. They were all indicted anyway.

The case against Landa-Rodriguez and four other Mexican Mafia members was roiled when it emerged that Rocha had secretly recorded himself disparaging his government handlers. Landa-Rodriguez was acquitted of all charges in 2019.

    LA County Jail Shot Caller

In 2013, prosecutors alleged in a second federal indictment, Landa-Rodriguez seized control of the Los Angeles County jail system, the country's largest. According to prosecutors, he oversaw the lucrative schemes the Mexican Mafia uses to extract money from the 6,000 or so Latino prisoners who make up more than half of the county's male inmate population.

Landa-Rodriguez allegedly received a one-third cut of all drug sales within the jails, leading prosecutors to dub their investigation "Operation Dirty Thirds." He was also accused of profiting from an extortion racket called "the kitty."

Landa-Rodriguez's former right-hand man, Luis "Hefty" Garcia, testified in 2022 that every Latino inmate was required to contribute $1.50 worth of items — food, clothing or hygiene supplies — for every $7 spent at the commissary. The "kitty" is then resold, creating a secondary market within the jails that is cheaper than the commissary.

"It may sound like a small amount," Garcia said, "but in the big picture, it's a large amount of money."

Every week, Garcia testified he collected $1,500 to $2,500 from "kitty" sales at Men's Central Jail, $1,000 from Twin Towers and about $3,200 from the jail complex in Castaic known as Wayside, Garcia testified. This adds up to about $23,000 a month.

After seven years of litigation, hearings and the trial of a co-defendant — Landa-Rodriguez's former lawyer — Landa-Rodriguez pleaded guilty to racketeering in March.

    Plea Deal Details

In his plea agreement, he admitted the Mexican Mafia engaged in murder, kidnapping, extortion, robbery and witness tampering to "promote a climate of fear" within the jails. He also acknowledged putting an unnamed rival on the "green light list" — the Mexican Mafia's hit list — in 2015.

In a sentencing memo, lawyer Vitaly Sigal said his client has been incarcerated since 1998. When Landa-Rodriguez was last free, Sigal wrote, "Bill Clinton was the president of the United States, the internet was a relatively new concept that needed to be accessed via dial-up modem [and] the top-grossing movie in the world was Titanic."

Sigal said Landa-Rodriguez plans to return home to Michoacán after serving his time and accepting deportation.

The cartel with which Landa-Rodriguez once negotiated, now rebranded as La Nueva Familia Michoacana, was designated by the U.S. Treasury Department in April as a foreign terrorist organization.

In August, Mexican authorities handed over Servando Gómez Martinez, a La Familia leader called "La Tuta," to face drug trafficking charges in New York.

But according to his lawyer, Landa-Rodriguez has no interest in prison politics or transnational criminal alliances. He dreams of returning to his family's ranch, Sigal wrote, where he lived before coming to the United States at 15, before he ever joined a South L.A. gang or knew the inside of a jail cell.

Today, "he seeks no power, status or conflict," Sigal wrote. "Only the quiet dignity of growing old in the company of loved ones."

Loud gunfire from drug traffickers has forced residents to hide under their beds.

Mobile phone service has been interrupted and classes suspended.

Residents reported loud gunfire to emergency services in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

The armed confrontation took place in the municipality of Guachochi, with no details available on the victims.

According to WhatsApp messages, the shooting began around 4:20 a.m. and lasted at least 40 minutes, although other reports say it lasted about two hours.

The confrontation occurred between rival organised crime groups (Salgueiro and La Línea).

Mobile phone service was knocked out when the fighting began, leaving only internet connections in homes as a means of communication.

Parents whose children attend Technical Secondary School 9 in the Los Pinos neighborhood sent messages through their private groups.

SEMAR and FGR Dismantle Criminal Network That Trafficked Drugs at Airports in Tijuana and Mexico City

Elements of the Mexican Navy (SEMAR) and the Attorney General's Office (FGR) dismantled a criminal network that used commercial flights to traffic drugs from Mexico City International Airport (AICM) to Tijuana, Baja California, evading security controls.

On November 21, 2025, personnel from the Naval Airport Protection Unit arrested four people at Terminal 2 of AICM who were carrying several packages of cocaine. During the operation, the FGR seized 271 packages weighing approximately 270 kilograms of cocaine, two vans, and four cell phones that the criminal cell used to coordinate the trafficking.

The SEMAR and the FGR identified, through field and intelligence work, the existence of a network that took advantage of the dynamics of commercial flights to move shipments to Tijuana without undergoing the required X-ray inspections or completing the necessary shipping procedures.

The four detainees were informed of their constitutional rights and placed at the disposal of the corresponding ministerial authorities, who will determine their legal status. The Mexican Navy (SEMAR) estimated that the drug seizure represented an economic blow of 92,048,498 pesos to organized crime.

The Mexican Navy (SEMAR) and the Attorney General's Office (FGR) reiterated that they will continue coordinated operations to curb drug trafficking through airport infrastructure and reinforce security at one of the busiest air terminals in the country.
