Agents from the State Prosecutor's Office and experts from the Jalisco Institute of Forensic Sciences resumed excavation work this Wednesday at the clandestine grave in the Lomas del Refugio neighborhood, in Zapopan, where 63 bags with human remains have been located since it was located on December 13 by members of the Luz de Esperanza (Light of Hope) collective.
Hector Flores, founder of the collective, said that they were working until December 24 because there was no more backhoe, which was needed for this work.
“It was necessary to ask the Chief of the Cabinet of the State of Jalisco, through him, the Secretary of Agriculture lent a backhoe so that they could continue the work today.”
Héctor Flores indicated that today the State Government finally provided the heavy machinery so that the agents of the State Prosecutor's Office and the experts of the Jalisco Institute of Forensic Sciences could continue with the search work.
He indicated that as a result of this Wednesday's work, 15 bags with human remains were found, for a total of 63 since the work began last December.
“Today 15 bags and one bone remains were found and in total there are 63 bags, tomorrow the work will continue in the grave here in Lomas del Refugio, in Zapopan”.
The discovery occurred on December 13 in a property located at the intersection of Ameca and Matamoros streets, where the members of the collective arrived to search for buried human remains, according to an anonymous tip they received through their social networks.
According to data from the Special Prosecutor's Office for Missing Persons, 20 clandestine graves had been accounted for between January and November of last year.

On May 29, 2025, Cartel Del Noreste or Northeast Cartel (C.D.N) published an official broadcast distancing their organization from extortion in Tamaulipas. The video is about two minutes and thirty seconds long, in which the C.D.N criminal organization claims jailed Gulf Cartel members in Tamaulipas prisons are using the 'CDN' brand for extortion. In recent weeks, Cartel Del Noreste has been active, waging war in Ciudad Victoria, Tamaulipas, now a stronghold of the Gulf Cartel Matamoros faction. Also, in the Ciudad Mier and Miguel Aleman municipalities, armed clashes against the Gulf Cartel Group Metros-CJNG have resumed.
Not to forget, CDN has also started to target law enforcement agencies once again in Tamaulipas and Nuevo Leon, who are cooperating with rivals.

This notice goes out to the citizens of Nuevo Laredo. Specifically to the general population. We want to inform the residents of Nuevo Laredo that in recent months, the number of cases related to the crime of telephone extortion has increased, affecting respected citizens who seek to earn an honest living.
It’s important to make it clear that we, the Northeast Cartel, don’t participate in or are linked to acts of extortion, kidnapping, or threats by telephone. We also don’t solicit money from the civilian population by any means. Just as well, we reaffirm our respect for people who work honestly, including business owners, transport operators, taxi drivers, social media marketers, and any other citizen who strives to get ahead.
The recent acts of extortion are being committed by prison inmates located in Ciudad Victoria, Altamira, Reynosa, and Matamoros in Tamaulipas, who operate under the orders of the Gulf Cartel. They’re falsely impersonating CDN members to confuse and frighten the population. To avoid becoming a victim of extortion, we recommend that you stay calm in case you receive a suspicious call.
Don’t provide personal, family, or banking information. Don’t make deposits or transfers. Hang up immediately and report this matter. Verify any information provided by the extortionists directly with your family. Educate minors and the elderly, who are often the most vulnerable to these scams.
Avoid answering calls from unknown numbers and denounce them. Extortionists commonly identify themselves as officials from the district attorney, the governor’s office, or delivery companies. They request that you provide or forward a code sent via WhatsApp with which they can hack your account.
They may also demand that you change the chip on your phone to cut off your communications. Do not comply with these instructions under any circumstances. We reiterate, the Cartel del Noreste doesn’t carry out extortion, nor does it solicit money or threaten citizens. We urge everyone to remain vigilant, avoid being deceived, and report these incidents to the relevant authorities. Only with information, prevention, and collaboration can we halt the spread of this crime, which affects everyone equally.

They are being accused of conducting fraudulent raffles and granting "loan shark" loans.
State police officers and federal authorities arrested three individuals from South America involved in fraudulent raffles and "loan sharking" schemes in the municipalities of Zapopan and Guadalajara.
The first incident occurred at the intersection of Oss and Amsterdam streets in the Valle de los Molinos neighborhood of Zapopan.
Officers observed two men who matched the descriptions provided in citizen reports that accused them of allegedly collecting money through fraudulent means.
Upon verifying their identities, they discovered that both individuals presented credentials identifying them as Colombian citizens. However, because they could not prove their legal residency in the country, they were referred to personnel from the National Institute of Migration.
The second incident occurred at the intersection of Mandarina Avenue and 9th Street, in the wholesale market in Guadalajara, where police officers encountered a Venezuelan national who could not prove his legal status in Mexico.

Due to the above, Arturo “N,” 31 years old, and Andrés “N,” 38, both of Colombian origin, as well as Dainer “N,” 21, from Venezuela, were referred to the immigration authorities to continue with the corresponding procedures.

Two US Embassy Staffers and Chihuahua AEI Director & Agent Killed in Car Accident After Narco Lab Raids in Rural Morelos
By Socalj 4/19/2026 07:40:00 PM No comments
"Socalj" for Borderland Beat
Chihuahua FGE head, César Jáuregui Moreno, announced the deaths of two members of the State Investigation Agency (AEI), as well as two instructor officers from the United States Embassy.
As previously reported by Borderland Beat, two large drug laboratories were raided in a rural area between Morelos and Guamuchil, Chihuahua.
Two AEI agents and two US Embassy personnel, along with four other vehicles, were returning from the area near Morelos where authorities found the two clandestine synthetic drug and methamphetamine laboratories, when their vehicle was involved in an accident resulting in their deaths.
Initially, US Ambassador Ronald Johnson, without mentioning details of the incident, posted news of the tragic accident.
During a conference on April 19, the state prosecutor confirmed the four deaths, identifying the Mexican Agents as First Commander and Director of the AEI, Pedro Román Oseguera Cervantes and his bodyguard/escort Manuel Genaro Méndez Montes.
Synthetic Drug Labs Raided
During the press conference on April 19, authorities reported on the discovery of the two clandestine synthetic drug laboratories, as well as a camp with supplies in the municipality of Morelos.
Locating and destroying the aforementioned facilities required three months of work. While the official mentioned two laboratories, the report indicates there were six.
“These laboratories were located in the municipality of Morelos, in the southern part of the state. In an open area of approximately eight hundred and fifty square meters, divided into five areas,” added César Jáuregui.
Initial reports on the lab raids do not mention any involvement of US agents or authorities.
Two methamphetamine laboratories were located in the Sierra Tarahumara, between the municipalities of Morelos and Guachochi in Chihuahua, during a joint operation conducted by the State Investigation Agency (AEI), the Secretariat of National Defense (SEDENA), and the Specialized Prosecutor's Office for Strategic Operations.
At the site, authorities discovered two facilities suspected of being used for the production of synthetic drugs, as well as an evidence of a camp.
The discovery took place approximately 9 hours from Chihuahua City, in a border zone between the municipalities of Guachochi and Morelos, where the authorities had arrived.
At the first camp and laboratory, the following was discovered:
2 boilers and pallets with sacks marked “Tquisa”
19 1,000L drums
17 1,000L containers
14 tanks with acetone
14 containers with a white material
16 containers with a black material
4 tanks of a black material
15 ovens and over 100 gas cylinders of various sizesConvoy Accident
The accident happened in the early hours of the morning.
According to the Chihuahua prosecutor, the accident occurred when a convoy of five vehicles was involved in an accident around 2:00 AM as the group was returned from the lab's location.
"The vehicle involved in the accident was that leading the group and allegedly it skidded off the road, falling down a ravine before exploding." César Jáuregui mentioned at the press conference.
“Our deepest condolences and prayers for the families of those who died in this tragic accident,” added Jáuregui Moreno.
The Secretary of Public Security of Chihuahua, Gilberto Loya, shared a message regarding the death of Román Oseguera Cervantes.
“I recognize his commitment and work in favor of security. To his family, friends, and colleagues, I send my deepest condolences and all my solidarity in this difficult time,” the official shared.
The Governor of Chihuahua Maru Campos, shared a message on her social media about the death of Pedro Román Oseguera.
“I want to express my deepest condolences to the wife, children, family, friends and colleagues of Maestro Pedro Román Oseguera Cervantes, General Coordinator of the State Investigation Agency, who lost his life in the line of duty, working for the peace and security of the people of Chihuahua.”
Who are the US 'Training Instructors?'
According to the Chihuahua prosecutor, the two US agents were training officers from the U.S. Embassy, conducting training exercises, according to the official. The agents' deaths were also commented on social media by Ambassador Ronald Johnson, who highlighted the risks faced by security personnel from both countries.
"We deeply regret the tragic loss of two U.S. Embassy staff members, the Director of the Chihuahua State Investigation Agency (AEI), and one of the agency's agents in this accident. We recognize their dedication and tireless efforts in addressing one of the greatest challenges of our time. Our thoughts and prayers are with them and their loved ones."
Often, the term US Embassy staff members is used as generic cover terms for certain law enforcement, intelligence officers or contractors. There has long been joint training between US and Mexican forces and police. However, given the distance travelled to the labs, it is likely the US officers were present during the raids.

Rosalinda González Valencia, accused of money laundering, will not be released from prison immediately
JANUARY 30, 2025
MEXICO CITY (apro).- A federal judge granted early release to Rosalinda González Valencia, wife of Nemesio Oseguera González “El Mencho,” leader of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG), however, she will not be released from prison immediately.
In a hearing held yesterday by Judge Perla Fabiola Ayala Estrada, assigned to the Federal Criminal Justice Center based in Cuernavaca, Morelos, González Valencia's defense argued that her client had already served more than half of her sentence and that, in addition to having shown good conduct, she could obtain the benefit of early release.
Rosalinda González Valencia was sentenced in 2023 to five years in prison for money laundering, but has remained in prison since November 2021.
Federal sources confirmed that Judge Ayala established that the release order in favor of the wife of “El Mencho” will take effect until it becomes final, that is, until it can no longer be revoked by a higher court.
For this reason, the Attorney General's Office (FGR) is already preparing the presentation of an appeal that must be resolved by a Collegiate Court.

The State Prosecutor's Office located a clandestine grave in the Las Agujas neighborhood of Zapopan. The investigation has been ongoing since February. Its existence was only recently discovered when it appeared on the website of the Special Deputy Prosecutor for Missing Persons, on the list of clandestine graves located in the state.
The fenced site is in a semi-deserted area near the La Venta-Nextipac highway, behind a company that assembles electrical parts, west of Zapopan, within the Guadalajara Metropolitan Area.
When questioned about the clandestine burial site located on the Camino a Las Agujas, prosecutor Salvador González de los Santos stated that more than 160 bags containing human remains have been recorded.
"The search process is not yet complete, although no one has been found. On average, there were 169 bags, and based on the analysis of the remains found, according to the report issued by the Jalisco Institute of Forensic Sciences, they correspond to 34 people," stated González de los Santos.
Contrary to what the prosecutor stated, the website of the Special Deputy Prosecutor's Office indicates that 35 bodies have been found, of which 15 have been identified; 14 were men and one was a woman. The website indicates that the status is under investigation.
Work is being done at the site with machinery, as well as various tools and implements.
"We have dogs used to detect remains or corpses, rods are used, and ground-penetrating radars are also used to determine if human remains are still present. We're almost there to close this case," said the head of the state's law enforcement agency.
The grave was discovered at the end of February after a private company attempted to carry out construction work. While excavating, they discovered human remains, so they notified the authorities. Because of this situation, the case had not been reported.

The arrests took place inside a house located in the Las Cañadas neighborhood of the municipality of Zapopan.
Coordinated actions by federal forces in the municipality of Zapopan, Jalisco, led to the arrest of a man identified as one of the main perpetrators of violence in the Guadalajara metropolitan area, allegedly working for the Jalisco New Generation Cartel, as well as two other men found in possession of firearms and suspected drugs.
The arrested man is José Gabriel "S," 26 years old, alias "Uber," identified by the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC) as the leader of a criminal cell of the aforementioned cartel and considered one of the main instigators of violence in the metropolitan area. He was allegedly responsible for drug trafficking, extortion, kidnapping, murder, and arms trafficking.
Two other men were arrested along with him: Mauricio Cruz "A" and Carlos Alberto "Q." Authorities seized a rifle, two handguns, three magazines, ammunition, 500 doses of methamphetamine, five vehicles, a property, and 10 cell phones from the three men.
This was achieved through mobile and aerial surveillance by federal forces, which led to the location of a residence linked to the leader of a criminal cell in the Las Cañadas neighborhood of Zapopan municipality. Based on the evidence obtained, a judge issued a warrant to search the property.
