Aryan Brotherhood Leader Ronnie Yandell Tried to Attack Two Corrections Officers in California Prison
By Socalj 11/27/2024 06:32:00 PM No comments
"Socalj" for Borderland Beat Based on an AP News Article
Ronald D. Yandell, a leader of the Aryan Brotherhood prison gang, allegedly attacked two officers last Friday morning as they were transferring him back to his cell after an appointment at the prison’s health building.
Prison officials say he drew an “improvised weapon” against the officers. He dropped the weapon after an officer used pepper spray and was restrained and removed without further incident, officials said. No staff was injured.
Yandell is serving a life sentence without the possibility of parole for first-degree murder and voluntary manslaughter. He arrived at the Sacramento (New Folsom) California prison in 2004. The case will be referred to the county district attorney’s office for possible felony prosecution for attempted homicides, officials said.
Yandell’s lawyer did not immediately respond to an emailed request for comment.
In 2019, following a multiyear investigation, Yandell was charged in the killing of several inmates that officials say included a member of a rival gang as well as Aryan Brotherhood associates who did not follow the rules. Federal officials said he was part of the gang’s three-member leadership commission.
A jury in April of this year found him guilty of several counts of murder and conspiracy to commit murder in aid of racketeering, as well as several counts related to the distribution of heroin and methamphetamine in conjunction with Mexican Mafia members.
Officials said Yandell and his cellmate oversaw a significant heroin and methamphetamine trafficking operation and used smuggled-in cellphones to directed murders and drug trafficking in Sacramento and other California cities, while also controlling the membership of the Aryan Brotherhood.
With the recent conviction, normally Yandell would have been moved to a federal prison. However BOP officials made clear they did not want to take in high risk gang leader inmates already serving the same length sentences (life without parole) in the federal system.
The long time ploy to breakup prison gangs by transfering their leaders or convicting them on federal RICO charges has only furthered the expansion and reputation of the gangs.
One of the rival gang members killed at the direction of Yandell was Hugo Pinell, a purported leader of the Black Guerilla Family gang and infamous member of the San Quentin 6, with which he helped to slit the throats of San Quentin prison guards during a failed 1971 escape attempt.
Pinell, who long denied any gang connection, was killed days after being moved out of isolation.

Federal forces detained two alleged “Mochohomitos” and/or “Linces” hitmen, belonging to the “Beltrán Leyva” criminal organization, led by Jesús Alfredo Beltrán Guzmán, alias “El Mochomito”.
Information from the federal government indicates that while carrying out reconnaissance and surveillance actions in the town of El Alto del Coyote, Army personnel from the National Guard were met with gunfire and after repelling the aggression, they detained two people.
The detainees are linked to “Mochomito”, a cell that is supporting the “Los Chapitos” faction in their dispute for territory.
The detainees were found with four long arms, a Barret rifle, a grenade launcher, two grenades, 15 magazines, 420 useful cartridges, two tactical vests and 1,000 fentanyl pills.
Alfredo Beltrán Guzmán is the son of Alfredo Beltrán Leyva, and was arrested in 2016 in Zapopan, Jalisco, but was released in 2021.

El Mini Lic Reportedly Arrested on Fentanyl Trafficking Charges in US
By Socalj 12/13/2024 08:22:00 PM 51 comments
By Borderland Beat Contributors
The news of his possible arrest first came from narco journalist Luis Chaparro's X page posting:
EXCLUSIVE: FBI sources just confirmed to me Dámaso López Serrano, ‘El Mini-Lic’ was just apprehended in the Virginia area for “fentanyl trafficking charges”."Despite in 2017 making a self surrender and cooperation, the Sinaloan narco Damaso "Mini Lic" has been re-arrested for fentanyl trafficking, according to reports." posted author Ioan Grillo when sharing Luis' X post.
Dámaso López Serrano, known as "El Mini Lic" turned himself in to US authorities in 2017 at the Calexico border. This came several months after his father Dámaso López Núñez was arrested in Mexico City for drug trafficking for the Sinaloa Cartel.

His father, Dámaso López Nunez, is known as "El Licenciado." He had helped "El Chapo" escape in 2001 from Puente Grande prison and went on to become a collaborator with Chapo and a leader within the Sinaloa Cartel.

MIni Lic became a cooperating witness and was released from prison in 2022 on parole after serving a reduced sentence of 72 months for his cooperation. It was initially believed he might be deported back to Mexico however he has remained in the US since his release. He also has pending cases with Mexican authorities. The FGR issued an arrest warrant against him in January 2020, for his alleged part in the murder of journalist Javier Valdez and could have faced those charges had be been deported.
Last year, Dámaso submitted his responses to Borderland Beat on the letter sent by Los Chapitos denying their trafficking of fentanyl after being charged in a large scale indictment in April 2023.
He provided interviews to several media outlets and started a podcast Ocran Leaks calling out Sinaloa narcos and sharing stories and information on the since splintered Sinaloa Cartel.
A new episode of his podcast was posted to YouTube earlier today, however as it was pre-recorded it likely was scheduled to launch ahead of time.

UPDATES
A source within US law enforcement confirmed to Borderland Beat that "El Mini Lic" was arrested.
The FBI confirmed to El Universal that the United States Marshals Service was the one who arrested a high-value subject. The DEA is aware and in communication as well, but it is the Marshals who have him in custody.
2018 Plea Deal Details
Lopez-Serrano pled guilty in 2018, and accepted responsibility for his role as a leader within the Sinaloa Cartel, acknowledging that he organized the transportation and distribution of thousands of kilograms of controlled substances, including methamphetamine, cocaine, and heroin, for importation from Mexico into the United States. Lopez-Serrano also admitted to possessing firearms for the purpose of promoting the Sinaloa Cartel’s narcotics trafficking activities.
Judge Dana M. Sabraw recognized the advances of El Mini Licenciado and believed in his sincerity out of regret, due to the fact that he worked to compensate for the damage he caused in the Sinaloa Cartel.
He must hand over a million dollars as forfeiture of proceeds from the sale of narcotics. He had also testified against his godfather, "El Chapo" Guzmán at his New York trial in 2019.

Large Cache of Tactical Gear Captured in San Marcos, Guerrero
By El Huaso 12/15/2024 08:19:00 PM 3 comments
By "El Huaso" for Borderland Beat
Government forces arrested two men in San Marcos, Guerrero in possession of a large quantity of tactical gear, including balistic plates, plate carriers, and firearms on December 9th.
A photograph of the seizure shows the two captured men standing in front of 74 plate carrier vests, 40 ballistic plates, and nine firearms. The tactical gear is neatly packaged, suggesting it may have just arrived, and was being stored at a weapons cache for a criminal group.
While firearms in Mexico are mostly trafficked south from the United States, tactical gear such as those captured here are unrestricted for purchase in Mexico, and can be sourced from online retailers such as MercadoLibre.
The cache was located in San Marcos, a small town around 20 kilometers inland off the southern coast of Guerrero state, a region known as la Costa Chica. This region is used by criminals to receive cocaine shipments from south America. Much of this is focused in the Port of Acapulco, according to InSight Crime.

La Mayiza Or MF Group Sends A Warning To Jesus Guillermo Flores Bautista, "El Caballo" High Ranking Member Of The La Chapiza In Culiacan, Sinaloa. La Mayiza Claim Eye For An Eye, Tooth For Tooth Against La Chapiza

DECEMBER 24, 2024
On Christmas Eve, La Mayiza or MF Group published an audio broadcast sending a warning message against Jesus Guillermo Flores Bautista, "El Caballo," a high-ranking La Chapiza member in Culiacan, Sinaloa. El Caballo is believed to control a few sectors or neighborhoods in Culiacan on behalf of La Chapiza or Los Chapos Cartel. El Caballo is a violent criminal who escaped the Aguaruto Prison during the mass prison riot on the Culiacanazo of October 17, 2019. The threatening message on behalf of La Mayiza threatens El Caballo and La Chapiza warning them to stop kidnapping friends, and family, of La Mayiza members who are not involved with the cartel business. Moreover, La Mayiza warns the La Chapiza Cartel that they will suffer the same faith and their family members will also get kidnapped meaning eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth.
La Chapiza, or Los Chapos Cartel, as we all can remember, kidnapped about 66 people, including children, when the home of the infamous Ivan Archivaldo Guzman Salazar was burglarized. La Chapiza kidnapping relatives or families is nothing new, but for La Mayiza to openly state that they will also start to kidnap relatives or family members of Los Chapos is another escalation of the current Sinaloa Civil War.

This communique goes out to the Chapo-Zetas. Caballo, mainly this goes out to you since you’re being such a crybaby. This is just a small taste of your own medicine so that you’ll know what it feels like to have a family member kidnapped. We’re not some cheap ****s like you guys. But you sure as hell are obligating us to do this.
We don’t mess with the family. But from now on that’s how things are going to be. If you guys abduct a cousin, brother, or any family member from the Mayiza mob. We will kidnap 20 of your relatives in return. It doesn’t matter if it’s a mother, children, relatives, or whatever. They’re going to be abducted. And we will return them to you as you hand them over to us. If you grab one of ours we will pick up twenty of yours. And if it’s two that get snatched then we will grab forty of yours. This shit is getting out of control. The war was always just between the Chapos and Mayos gunmen. It had nothing to do with each other’s family members. As things stand you guys have a lot to lose. From now on this is how things are going to be. We are the absolute Mayiza mob and we’re moving forward. This message goes out to every Chapo Zetas. If you guys abduct one of our family members we will kidnap twenty of your relatives. And if it’s two of ours it’ll be forty of yours. We don’t give a **** at this point.

Cesar Fabian de Anda Navarro, alias “El Chore” or “El Cevichon”, a criminal linked to the Jalisco Cartel - New Generation (CJNG), who was arrested four years ago, escaped for the second time from the Puente Grande prison, Jalisco, last Christmas, according to the General Directorate of Prevention and Social Reinsertion (DGPRIS).
“Last December 25, after concluding visiting hours and after the roll call in the common areas and in the rooms, the absence of a Person Deprived of Liberty (PPL) was detected by the custodians,” says the DGPRIS.
Cesar Fabian 'N', 46 years old, was arrested in Jalisco on July 23, 2020, for the crimes of aggravated kidnapping and organized crime.
The criminal had already escaped from the same Puente Grande prison in 2001, where he was serving a sentence for robbery and carrying weapons, and was recaptured in 2003, according to local media.
Four guards were arrested for allegedly failing to carry out surveillance and security protocols, he added.
The arrested guards were identified as David 'N', 39 years old; Luis 'N', 30 years old; José 'N', 40 years old, and Melissa 'N', 42 years old.
“Sixteen people were brought before the Public Prosecutor's Office, including prison guards and guards of the Penitentiary Center to take their statements and strengthen the investigation from which four arrest warrants were issued and executed,” said the agency.
