Roosevelt (and a reader) on immigration
I know this has been posted before but I feel it bears repeating from time to time.
Will we ever have a president again willing to 'step up to the plate' for this country?

Roosevelt (and a reader) on immigration
To the editor:
Theodore Roosevelt's ideas on Immigrants and being an American:
“In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the person's becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American Š There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag. Š We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language ... and we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people.”
- Theodore Roosevelt
Every American citizen needs to read this!

Editor's note: The preceding comments from former president Theodore Roosevelt are attributed to him (in a widely circulated e-mail) circa 1907, whilehe was still in office. In fact, simply for accuracy's sake, it should be noted that Snopes.com (an Internet hoax-disproving and fact-proving site) reports that Roosevelt's passage indeed is genuine, but is from a letter he wrote not long before his death in 1919.Support our FIGHT AGAINST illegal immigration & Amnesty by joining our E-mail Alerts at https://eepurl.com/cktGTn

I read the presidents and Jefferson And Madison said much the same thing. This was durring a time when immigration was sought and encouraged.
