Roy Beck of NumbersUSA has assessed the positions of several presidential candidates on many immigration-related issues. Not surprisingly, the only candidate listed that received a rating of of "EXCELLENT" on all immigration-related issues is former presidential candidate Tom Tancredo. Duncan Hunter received the best ratings of the current candidates. Mitt Romney overall is graded higher than McCain, Guiliani and Huckabee. Gov. Romney is graded higher than Fred Thompson on some issues such as local enforcement of federal immigration laws and prohibiting states from issuing driver licenses to illegal aliens. He also scored higher than Fred Thompson when evaluated on the issue of past immigration actions while in office. Mitt Romney received a grade of "GOOD" while Fred Thompson received a grade of "FAIR". Below is copied a portion of the assessment of Mitt Romney by Roy Beck on immigration-related issues.
