I want to take this Moment to give my thanks to all the Veterans out there. You the Veterans have giving a lot for this Great Nation. You the Veterans are all Hero's. I Salute You.

Happy Veterans Day, everybody!!

We honor you, We love you, We respect you, and We appreciate you from the bottom of our hearts and from the depths of our souls.

Without you and all Veterans Past, there would be no America. Because of you, there is an America, and a shining land from sea to sea filled with Americans who carry the torch for the world to see that to be free is the only way to be.

Thank You All So Very Much.

And, I add mine to the eloquent one Judy gave. Thanks to all of the Veterans of ALL of the wars who have given this country the freedom to speak on forums like this one.

Tonight as the sun was going down and my neighbor Flag, was waving in the wind, the sky red. I thought of Francis Scott Key and the Star Spangled Banner. I thought it might be appropriate for today. Even though ever day is Veterans Day, in my Mind.

I know a lot of People haven't read the whole Star Spangled Banner.

O say, can you see, by the dawn's early light,
What so proudly we hail'd at the twilight's last gleaming?
Whose broad stripes and bright stars, thro' the perilous fight,
O'er the ramparts we watch'd, were so gallantly streaming?
And the rockets' red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof thro' the night that our flag was still there.
O say, does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?


On the shore dimly seen thro' the mists of the deep,
Where the foe's haughty host in dread silence reposes,
What is that which the breeze, o'er the towering steep,
As it fitfully blows, half conceals, half discloses?
Now it catches the gleam of the morning's first beam,
In full glory reflected, now shines on the stream:
'Tis the star-spangled banner: O, long may it wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!


And where is that band who so vauntingly swore
That the havoc of war and the battle's confusion,
A home and a country should leave us no more?
Their blood has wash'd out their foul footsteps' pollution.
No refuge could save the hireling and slave
From the terror of flight or the gloom of the grave:
And the star-spangled banner in triumph doth wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave.


O thus be it ever when free-men shall stand
Between their lov'd home and the war's desolation;
Blest with vict'ry and peace, may the heav'n-rescued land
Praise the Pow'r that hath made and preserv'd us a nation!
Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just,
And this be our motto: “In God is our trust!�And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

Scuba!! You are the Best!! Thank you so much for posting all of the Poem. And lookey what you found? The source I presume of "In God We Trust"!! It is part of our National Anthem from the beginning...before the beginning of our nation!

I was driving today, and all of the sudden they played the Star Spangled Banner. It was neat listening to it as I drove past all the hurricane debris. It made the hurricane seem like such a little nothing in comparison to how great our country is.

It is so true. Even in our problems and adversities, Americans are the greatest people on the face of the earth. And I'll be darn if they're going to push us off into Oblivion!!
