I think we are all completely cynical and disgusted with ALL politicians. therefore, we start out skeptical.

The red highlighted text above is bad amnesty-supporting language, but I'm glad it's not Steele writing it. We should lobby Steele to ensure he doesn't support "path to citizenship" i.e. amnesty.

Like the GOP, perhaps we can simply learn to live with some varying positions among the members. But here's a guy who thinks he heard the same thing I heard: http://24ahead.com/michael-steele-doubl ... nd-amnesty

I like Steele. I agree with him. The leaking boat analogy is the same one I use. I do not want amnesty. However, the issue is moot if we do not control the border. If we got rid of 100% of all illegal aliens in this country tomorrow, we would have the same problem in months or a couple of years if our borders are wide open and US employers can lure illegal workers here with impunity. So, secure the border first. As to those already here, if employers' feet were held to the fire, many illegal aliens would probably self-deport. Secure the border, eliminate the job opportunities and the whole issue becomes much more manageable. Also, I do not believe the NAU, or anything like it can be put into effect if we secure our borders, basically banning the concept of 'free migration of labor' practiced by the EU. Our free migration of labor should be limited to the 50 United States. I think Steele has the right objectives and in the right order.
