what in the hell is the Senate working on a Sunday night for? This appears to me like they must work this SuperBowl hour in order to pass what they want to without the people knowing about it.
Remember when they promised to work five days a week, shortly after they gained control, and then Steny supposedly gave them the day off for some football game? Maybe this was their way of protesting the bad media attention that they got the last time(?)

How are we going to tell our children and grandchildren that we may have allowed this to happen or even caused it to happen when we voted these people in office.

We need to go to work on the HOUSE pronto. Loud and clear.

I spoke with NumbersUSA and they say this amendment was NOT in the final bill. They also said it was supposed to be amedn # 180, not 187 (???). They will post a message on their web site or to their e-mail list.

That's good Kate! I was just at Numbersand CAPS too and recognize my above post as S237 (the AgJobs bill) but last night the Library of Congress site linked to at when you clicked Amendments after you followed the link in the IFIRE email. Maybe this is why they took them down, the links were messed up.

I guess we'll have to wait for an official announcement from someone.

180 and 187 are both Kennedy Amendments for HR2 and both deal with immigration.

Yeah. It looks like they have the bill prepared, it's just a matter of how and where it will be presented...in toto or piecemeal, snuck into other bills. There are also various bills relating to immigration in the House.

    Piecemeal
    It's already begun.

I must be missing something here. HR 2 looks like it was amended to include all of the amnesty privisions
    STATUS:

    1/24/2007:
Amendment SA 187 proposed by Senator Kennedy for Senator Kerry to Amendment SA 112. (consideration: CR S1044-1045; text: CR S1044)
    1/24/2007:
Amendment SA 187 agreed to in Senate by Unanimous Consent.
    S.AMDT.187
    Amends: H.R.2 , S.AMDT.112
Sponsor: Sen Kerry, John F. [MA] (submitted 1/24/2007) (proposed 1/24/2007)

    Then,

    H.R.2
Title: To amend the Fair Labor Standards Act of 1938 to provide for an increase in the Federal minimum wage.
Sponsor: Rep Miller, George [CA-7] (introduced 1/5/2007) Cosponsors (222)
    Related Bills: H.RES.6, H.R.33, H.R.239, H.R.509, S.2
Latest Major Action: 2/1/2007 Passed/agreed to in Senate. Status: Passed Senate with an amendment by Yea-Nay Vote. 94 - 3. Record Vote Number: 42.

To me, this looks like a done deal in the senate, now it moves back to the house....right?
It will not be enough to send a letter. We will have to march on washington and dictate terms in the white house
