Fortunately your situation, where illegal immigration is concerned, is the exception, not the norm.

    credit csrds for illegals

My email to my Senators :

I am very disappointed that you voted against the Vitter amendment to H.R. 627. New Yorkers and the rest of the country are fed up with our representatives ignoring our pleas to start doing something about the illegal immigration problem. This amendment should be a no-brainer. When illegals will stop paying their credit-card bills, just like they get away with everything else (not paying hospitals, driving etc) the rest of us will get stuck with the payments in some way or another. Whenever something comes up that will stop illegals from having the same rights as legal residents, our representatives vote against it, giving illegals more reasons for staying. Maybe if you made it harder for them, like NO SPANISH signs all over the place, using more code enforcement for housing, etc., they would go back home, or at least try to assimilate. Our home values here on Long Island are dropping, and having homes run rampate with illegals only makes things worse. Some people have no quality of life where they live, and we can't do anything about it, because the US government allows and even aids and abets the illegals behaviour. And we are over - worked and over - taxed and we can't even get the government to listen to us. When will it end? I dread the end of Long Island and NY as we know it , because if nothing is done about illegal aliens, that's just what is going to happen.

The amendment was more about identity then who can actually get a credit card.

The amendment would have required credit card applicants to show a valid social security card along with an identification that is compliant with REAL ID.

If passed, the amendment would have:

    * Granted rule making authority to the Federal Reserve to set forth minimum standards for credit card issuers to establish a consumer’s identity to prevent illegal aliens and terrorists from obtaining credit cards.
    * The regulations would have verified the identity of any person seeking a credit card account, require the company to maintain records of the information used to verify the customer’s identity, and the company will consult lists of known or suspected terrorists or terrorist organizations provided by the appropriate government agency.
    * Acceptable forms of identification include: a social security card, driver’s license or identification card issued by a State that is in compliance with the Real ID Act, a passport (issued by either the U.S. or a foreign government) or a photo identification card issued by the Secretary of Homeland Security.

Risky lending habits practiced by U.S. banks contributed to the current economic crisis. Illegal aliens were able to obtain credit and were more likely to default without being detected or facing prosecution. Sen. Vitter's amendment addressed the problem created by these lending habits.
