Those who feared President Obama’s Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program (DACA) to “defer deportations for young undocumented immigrants” – so-called DREAMers – was a slippery slope are about to be vindicated, says Sen. Jeff Sessions, R-Alabama.

Noting Obama’s reported plan to provide up to six million parents of illegal immigrant DREAMers living in the U.S. work authorization via executive orders, Sessions said Obama would be effectively ending enforcement of U.S. immigration laws.

Appearing on Friday’s Mark Levin Show, the senator cited numerous reports of pro-amnesty activists who’ve said, after meeting with the president, Obama intends to order the issuance of identification cards that authorize recipients to work anywhere in the U.S.

Saying Obama was able to unilaterally implement the DACA program in 2012 because he “wasn’t sufficiently challenged,” Sessions urged Americans to call their representatives to not support any border bill that does not block the president’s use of executive actions.

“How Congress chooses to act in the coming hours and days will determine whether the president succeeds in his plan to nullify the immigration laws of the United States,” Sessions said in a released statement.

While praising legislation introduced by Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, and Rep. Marsha Blackburn, R-Tennessee, that would prevent Obama from granting temporary amnesty to future illegal immigrants, Sessions said Congress was not sufficiently focused on stopping the erosion of American’s system of immigration laws. He has called on the Senate to reject any bill that does not deny Obama the ability to use federal funds to implement his expanded work permit plan.

“America is entitled to have a lawful system of immigration that serves the interest of working Americans and not just big business,” Sessions told Levine.
