I saw over 150 illegal day labors today,Where is ICE?
I know I live at ground zero here in Southern California, but I never saw so many illegal day labors at one time before today...They all looked like a huge mob hanging around a shopping mall along the curb in Westminator Ca., this was around 7:30 in the morning. I would say there were least 100 day labors standing along the street as we drove by. This was in Orange County California...My husband had a Dr. Appt. at Kaiser medical center, so when we got to Kaiser there were at least another 25 more day labors hanging out near the entrance of the Medical Center...After his Dr. Appointment we wanted to have breakfast at Carls Jr. I would say another 25 were hanging out in the restaurant parking lot. I didn't want to get out of my car because of this!
Where's Ice? So much for hiding in the shadows!

Perhaps the construction jobs drying up or one other reason, many illegals are still getting across. I live in Ventura County and saw a few in the afternoon hanging out in front of a Fry's electronics store.

Keep these phone numbers handy. I'd call everytime I see day laborers assembled, since it's a proven fact that at least 70% of day laborers are illegals. Call ICE and report. Whether or not they do anything is up to them but it will make you feel a whole lot better.

The immigration law that requires that aliens be documented for legal entry. Those who sneak intto the country are referred to as "entry without inspection" (EWI). Others enter with legal documentation and then violate the terms on which they have been admitted by taking jobs that are not authorized or overstaying the authorized period of stay in the country. Both types of illegal immigrants are deportable under Immigration and Nationality Act Section 237 (a)(1)(B) which says:
"Any alien who is present in the United States in violation of this Act or any other law of the United States is deportable."
If you have evidence of illegal immigration, we recommend you contact the main DHS Hotline for assistance.

This is showing that they are not leaving very willingly. Yes construction is hitting the skids: and I am holding my breath in my part of the US where it is still going strong. Besides the obvious illlegals on our job, there are a lot of Hispanic looking guys who speak perfect English. Must be grown-up Anchor babies from Cesar Chavez era or 1986 IRCA.
At least having them hang around in the usual day labor spots could provide a concentration easier to spot by the authorities. They probably have a radar telling them when to skedaddle..."Men of low degree are vanity, Men of high degree are a lie. " David

The city and county officials along with the police know the illegals are hanging out on the streets. It's obviously the reason these day labors are not removed is because of the fear that these city and county officials might be thought of as racists...Besides the Mexican activists like La Raza and their supporters along with ACLU might put up a stink!

I don't know about Orange Co., but L.A. is a sanctuary city and ICE will not come unless they are called by law enforcement. I have the ICE telephone number on a post-it on my dashboard and have called them dozens of times but they never respond. My two cousins are police officers with LAPD and they both said that the only time they are allowed to call ICE is AFTER a crime has been committed and the legal status has been determined.
There is a HUGE population of illegals who live and work all around the West L.A. Police station., and they are NEVER harrassed. In fact there is a self-storage outfit one block from the police station and there are at least 50 of them standing in front all day long!
Up until two or three years ago, this particular neighborhood was primarily white...but now it is 90% hispanic...mostly illegals. The worst part is that these are the poorest, dirtiest, most itinerant looking illegals I have seen anywhere. Many of them look like they just arrived from Mexico an hour ago. Some of them look like they don't even know where they are! Women walking around with 6 barefoot kids totally disoriented! It's unbelievable! And they are coming in droves! L.A. is Mexico!
