Smith to Obama: Create jobs for Americans – not illegal aliens
    Jim Kouri
    Law Enforcement Examiner
    August 24, 2011

The Administration’s announcement that they will review removal proceedings of illegal immigrants may strike another blow to 24 million unemployed or underemployed Americans. The Administration’s policy could allow hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants to receive work authorization.
Those illegal immigrants would then compete with Americans for jobs according to House Judiciary Committee Chairman Lamar Smith (R-TX).

“The President’s decision could mean jobs – but not for unemployed Americans. This potential massive backdoor amnesty to illegal immigrants could instead allow illegal immigrants to receive work authorization and could put more Americans on the unemployment rolls," stated Chairman Smith.

“The Obama administration is putting the interests of illegal immigrants ahead of American workers. Since he doesn’t have the votes in Congress, the President is trying to change immigration policy through Administrative actions," he noted.

Some Americans say they believe Obama cares more about Mexican illegal aliens than he does American citizens.

“Unfortunately, this week’s announcement is just further proof the Administration is siding with illegal immigrants – not the American people," he added.

Upon hearing of his plan to ignore U.S. laws, Obama's opponents -- especially those working for the Border Patrol and in law enforcement -- claim the whole change in immigration policy is meant to seal his Latino voting base, especially those who are suspected of being legal or illegal aliens who are fraudulently voting in U.S. elections. All of the proposed legislation for voter identification to insure legal voting have been thwarted by left-leaning bureaucrats and judges.

"Its not about the law anymore. It's all about emotions. Our forefathers believed the U.S. was a nation of laws not rulers. The Democrats and some Republicans have turned that concept on its head," said former intelligence agent and law enforcement officer Sid Franes.

When the Department of Homeland Security announced the creation of a new working group that will begin a case-by-case review of illegal immigrants in removal proceedings and with a final order of removal to determine if those individuals should be removed to the agency’s discretion, Chairman Lamar Smith released the statement below in response to the Administration’s announcement.

Chairman Smith: “The Administration has again made clear its plan to grant backdoor amnesty to illegal immigrants. They have created a working group that appears to have the specific purpose of overruling, on a ‘case-by-case’ basis, an immigration court’s final order of removal, or preventing that court from even issuing such an order.

“The Obama administration should enforce immigration laws, not look for ways to ignore them. The Obama administration should not pick and choose which laws to enforce. Administration officials should remember the oath of office they took to uphold the Constitution and the laws of the land.â€

Very good point. Tax cuts for the rich creating jobs is outdated economic theory -- it simply does not work. We know this because, as you point out, it has been tried, and it has failed. Actually, we saw a tax increase for the wealthy in the 90s under Clinton, and the economy flourished. The top marginal tax rate was over 90% in the 1950s, and the economy flourished. We also had a projected surplus in the 1990s. I am no fan of Clinton, but these are the facts. Rich people have more money than they know what to do with. Making them even richer will do nothing to incentivise them to create jobs, they will simply sit on the extra wealth. Poor and middle class people spend ALL of their money. That is where tax cuts should be aimed. Consumption is what drives job creation, and 90% of consumers are not rich. The notion that the wealthy are the devine masters of the economy is utter bull crap.

Where are the jobs? Either in China or filled by illegals.

Duckman, the Republicans want to stop the payroll tax cut because it increased the deficit in the social security trust funds. The Federal deficit is too high and must be reduced. About half of all the jobs created by this tax cut actually went to illegal aliens. That's the exact opposite of what you want.

With a lower contribution to Social Security, will the employee’s Social Security benefits be affected? Not really. One’s Social Security benefits are driven by the Social Security eligible income, not by the taxes one pays into Social Security. The taxes we pay today go to someone else anyway. The income used in the Social Security benefits calculation will be the same.
