Rita has written a song for The Blackland Coalition and corridorwatch.org that ya'll might enjoy about the Trans-Texas Corridor entitled "The Trans-Texas Corridor Blues". It will probably come right through our front yard one day. Our album is finally finished and is for sale at www.johnnytex.com for download or hardcopy which ever way someone prefers. You can listen to clips of the 11 songs on the album there. Rita is up for songwriter of the year at the Groovy awards at the fine arts building at the Heart Of Texas Fairgrounds in Waco this coming Thursday night at 7:00 if any of you would like to come out and cheer her on. Cindy Walker, Willie Nelson, and Ronnie Huckaby will be honored. There is an outside chance that Willie will be there. Admission is $7.00 at the door if you are not a member but you will get to see the awards show and several bands will entertain. They are giving away a fender stratocaster autographed by Ray Hennig. It is a very nice. One of the bands will be Johnny Tex & the Texicans! Yall come or just pass on the information if you can.

THE TRANS-TEXAS CORRIDOR BLUES
Well, I woke up this mornin’
Feelin’ tired and used
I went to a meeting last night
And got some real bad news
I woke up with a bad case
Of the Trans-Texas Corridor Blues
Well, the greedy politicians
Want to build a big tollway
And in the name of progress
They want to take our land away
But, while they line their pockets
We’ll be the ones to pay
(Chorus) What’s the secret
Why won’t they let us see
The contract
With that Spanish company
To hell with NAFTA
I don’t wanna hafta
Feel worn out trucks from Mexico
Bearing down on me
Well, my Dad’s upset
He’s havin’ palpitations
That farm’s been in our family
For five generations
Hey, but what can he do
He’s got the Trans-Texas Corridor Blues
(Instrumental)
(Repeat Chorus and Last Verse)
(Tag)
Every time I wanna go to town
I’ll hafta drive twenty miles
Just to turn around
There’s somethin’ rotten in Austin
They ain’t tellin’ us the truth
That’s why I’ve got
The Trans-Texas Corridor Blues
Everybody here’s got
The Trans-Texas Corridor Blues
