Hi,
I am new to this board and basically just wanted to join some kind of message board on this issue. It's an issue I've been concerned about for a long, long time as I've spent most of my life in the Southwest U.S. as well as worked and lived in a border town (3 miles from Mexico) for 6 years. I see all of America being just like this town within 50 years or sooner at the current level of illegal and legal immigration.

I have so much to say about this issue but I want to start with a question as I am not a world history buff by any means. However, with all this rhetoric about Mexicans being the only indigenous people on this continent, doesn't that little matter of Spain conquering the Aztec Indians of Mexico conflict with this assertion? The current descendants of Mexico and those for hundreds of years now, have been the result of the Spanish conquering the Native Indians of Mexico. Kind of like how the Europeans conquered the Native Americans of the current U.S.A.

The weakness I find in the Illegal activists' argument that they are the true natives of this continent is that they are actually the result of Spainards conquering Indians, not the descendants of the indigenous tribal indians before the 1400's. Not that I think the argument is sound anyways for other reasons. Just wanted to get some other opinions about that particular line of reasoning.

Thanks.
