Speaker Paul Ryan Wonít Commit to President Trumpís $5 Billion Request for Border Wal

Speaker Paul Ryan Wonít Commit to President Trumpís $5 Billion Request for Border Wall (VIDEO)

by Jim Hoft July 25, 2018 100 Comments

Speaker Paul Ryan was asked on Wednesday morning if he will commit to President Trumpís request for $5 billion for the Trump border wall.
    Ryan waffled.

President Trump ran his campaign on building a border wall to stop the flow of illegal immigration.
So far Congress has denied him funding for the project despite passing a record $1.3 trillion omnibus last March.

Here is the transcript from the FOX and Friends segment:

Brian Kilmeade: Youíre going to visit with the president today. Youíre going to tell him he has $5 billion for the wall. Is that correct?

Speaker Paul Ryan: Well look, weíre going to talk to him about a whole slew of issues but mainly how to get this appropriation process back on track so that at the end of the year we donít have one giant omnibus appropriations bill. Nobody wants that. The senate is actually engaged. So we have a much better plan with the senate to get appropriations done separately. We really just want to get the military funded, on time, on budget, on schedule this year, which is the primary concern.

Brian Kilmeade: Is $5 billion accurate?

Speaker Ryan: Thatís the latest request so the appropriators are working on that. They changed their original request so thatís working through the system.

Ainsley Earhardt: The president, what did he want? He wanted $35 billion?

Paul Ryan: $26 billion. Right now you have of that 25, 1.6 billion, which was the administrationís request. The administration in this current year asked for $1.6 billion. That has been funded and those dollars are being spent. That construction is now occurring. So there is money being spent on the wall.

Didnít Trump request the full amount last spring? And didnít the funding ban work on a border wall?

No, construction on Trump's wall is not happening. The last appropriations bill specifically said none of the money was to be used on Trump's wall!

Geez, it seems all the Republicans in Congress are on board with this big talking point lie! Hmm, I guess it eases their conscience for failing miserably at getting Trump the funding he wants for his wall. Either that or they're just offering him cover for the lie he keeps repeating on the wall.

Yes, it appears that lie is almost everywhere.

I don't think they had to ease their conscience for not getting the funding Trump asked for, because it seems Trump only asked for 1.6 billion last time. That part was kept sort of hush--hush, but it was said that was all they ask for, and the WH didn't correct. Now it is clear they are only asking for 5 billion.
How can Trump blame Congress when he is not even asking for more?

Hard to believe he won't even ask!

I guess he's counting on getting reelected. 5 x 6 = 30 billion. That wall needs built now, not spread out over the next 6 years! It's obvious Mexico is never going to directly pay for the wall. Heck, I don't think anyone in their right mind actually thought that was going to happen. So, why isn't he approaching this from a different angle. Let's start taxing remittances, raising border crossing fees, etc., etc. ......... Heck, even start a gofundme page! Just do something.
