SPLC takes down their “Field Guide” to anti-Muslim extremists

SPLC takes down their “Field Guide” to anti-Muslim extremists

Posted by Ann Corcoran on April 20, 2018

Possibly getting wind of an upcoming lawsuit the Southern Poverty Law Center has apparently blinked and removed their October 2016 “Field Guide,” that included yours truly, from their website.

    [

The SPLC listed Nawaz as an anti-Muslim extremist and he is reportedly planning to sue them.

The Field Guide was meant to let the media know who they were supposed to shun when seeking comment on anything to do with Islam.

If you visit my post on the ‘honor’ here you will see that the link to the news no longer works.

However, as pointed out by National Review writer Jack Crowe, the pdf version is still available. Download it now for further reference!

The list of “extremists” besides me, included: Steve Emerson, Brigitte Gabriel, Frank Gaffney, Pamela Geller, John Guandolo, Ayaan Hirsi Ali, David Horowitz, Ryan Mauro, Robert Muise, Maajid Nawas, Daniel Pipes, Walid Shoebat, Robert Spencer, and David Yerushalmi.

As I said previously, I don’t really belong in such an august group. My real ‘sin’ is that I was getting under the skin of the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society, one of the nine major federal refugee contractors***, and a close ally of the Southern Poverty Law Center.

On learning of the honor, I said this:

By the way, it was a study by the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society, here in 2013, that directed the SPLC to focus on my work. I wrote about it here.

Inclusion on the list meant that I must have really hit a nerve at HIAS.

Below is what Crowe reported yesterday at National Review (hat tip: Judy):

The Southern Poverty Law Center has removed the “Field Guide to Anti-Muslim Extremists” from their website after attorneys for Maajid Nawaz, a practicing Muslim and prominent Islamic reformer, threatened legal action over his inclusion on the list.

The guide was meant to be a handy reference for lazy biased ‘journalists.’

The report, which had been active on the SPLC’s website since it was published in December 2016, was intended to serve as a resource for journalists to identify promoters of hateful propaganda; but it included a number of liberal reformers such as Nawaz, a former Islamic extremist who has since dedicated his life to combating the hateful ideology.

“A shocking number of these extremists are seen regularly on television news programs and quoted in the pages of our leading newspapers. There, they routinely espouse a wide range of utter falsehoods, all designed to make Muslims appear as bloodthirsty terrorists or people intent on undermining American constitutional freedoms. More often than not, these claims go uncontested,” the report, which still exists in PDF form, reads.

Nawaz, who founded the anti-extremist think tank Quilliam, said during a Wednesday night appearance on the Joe Rogan Experience, a popular podcast hosted by comedian Joe Rogan, that the report was removed from the SPLC website under legal threat sometime in the last two days.

“We have retained Clare Loch, they are writing to the Southern Poverty Law Center as we speak. I think they’ve got wind of it — the Southern Poverty Law Center — and as of yesterday, or the day before, they’ve removed the entire list that’s been up there for two years,” Nawaz said on the podcast.

Nawaz — informed by his experience as a former member of a global terror organization and a political prisoner in Egypt — routinely criticizes the fundamentalist interpretation of Islam that gives rise to terrorism. As a result of that work, the SPLC and a coalition of partner organizations that helped create the list accused him of “savaging Islam.”

Ayaan Hirsi Ali, a Somali-born liberal feminist who fled her home country amid civil war and now works at the Hoover Institution, was also branded an “anti-Muslim extremist” by the SPLC.

Go here for more of the National Review report and to follow links.

Below is a screenshot of the SPLC case against me:

*** I post the contractor list almost every day because I want new readers to know exactly who is responsible for driving the US Refugee Admissions Program (in addition to the UN!). The Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society has taken the lead in political and legal activism against President Trump’s so-called Muslim ban. I have a huge archive about them, see here.

The number in parenthesis is the percentage of the nine VOLAGs’ income paid by you (the taxpayer) to place the refugees, line them up with (low paying) jobs in food production and cleaning hotel rooms, and get them signed up for their services (welfare)! From most recent accounting, here.

Southern Poverty Law Center Quietly Deleted List of ‘Anti-Muslim’ Extremists After Legal Threat

    April 19, 2018

    Jack Crowe

The Southern Poverty Law Center has removed the “Field Guide to Anti-Muslim Extremists” from their website after attorneys for Maajid Nawaz, a practicing Muslim and prominent Islamic reformer, threatened legal action over his inclusion on the list.

Nawaz — informed by his experience as a former member of a global terror organization and a political prisoner in Egypt — routinely criticizes the fundamentalist interpretation of Islam that gives rise to terrorism. Ayaan Hirsi Ali, a Somali-born liberal feminist who fled her home country amid civil war and now works at the Hoover Institution, was also branded an “anti-Muslim extremist” by the SPLC.

Like Nawaz, Ali routinely criticizes inhumane practices that are common in majority-Muslim countries, including female genital mutilation, which she herself was subjected to before fleeing Somalia. The report branded her discussion of such topics “toxic.”

The inclusion of Nawaz and Ali on the “anti-Muslim extremist field guide” was the subject of criticism by conservative commentators and prompted a petition on Change.org, which drew thousands of signatures.

The SPLC did not respond to multiple requests for comment.

Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society wants “Local Anti-Refugee Leaders” investigated by SPLC

Posted by Ann Corcoran on July 5, 2014

    ….And, then what?

This is not hot news just off the presses, but is buried in recommendations in a report that the J.M. Kaplan Fund and Suzette Brooks Masters commissioned with the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society (HIAS) and published in February 2013.

HIAS is one of the top nine federal refugee resettlement contractors.*** See we want more money from Congress now too! (Just like the Catholics want more money!)
We first mentioned the report on how to counter the local backlash herejust ten days ago.

Let me say at the outset! This is classic Saul Alinsky/hard left stuff on the part of HIAS and Suzette Brooks Masters and so it makes me laugh! If you are a “local anti-refugee leader” you should be proud to be identified by them, because it means you are getting under their skin and disrupting their plans to bring more leftwing voters and more Muslims to America!

Suzette Brooks Masters and to her right is Garrett Johnson who was Senator Lugar’s staff person who helped investigate problems in Indiana in advance of the critical GAO report in 2012.

Frankly, I’ve been bummed to not yet have been added to the Southern Poverty Law Center‘s hate groups list! (See Southern Poverty Law Center stands up for Hamas!).

Plea to SPLC, please add me to your list of hate “groups.” I would be honored!

One of the funniest things I ever read was Daniel Greenfield writing about how he and his cat became a SPLC designated hate group. Read it and laugh! Hey, I have a cat too!

    Greenfield:

My first response on finding out that I was now a hate group was to look around to see where everyone else was. A hate group needs the “group” part, and one man and a cat don’t seem to be enough. Even when the cat is a well known bigot who hates mice, birds, car alarms that go off in the middle of the night, the plumber and sudden noises.

    But, I digress…..

Yippee! In Resettlement at Risk: Meeting Emerging Challenges to Refugee Resettlement in Local Communities, RRW does get a mention on page 10:

Online forums such as Refugee Resettlement Watch have emerged for individuals critical of the resettlement program to share their concerns. Many of the posts express disdain for the refugee resettlement program, particularly the resettlement of Muslim refugees, along with anti-Muslim views.

Their footnotes lead readers to this post we wrote in 2012 about Congressman Keith Ellison being their go-to guy in Congress!

Check out the report especially if you are in one of the three states withpockets of resistance identified by HIAS at that time (there are more now!)—Tennessee, New Hampshire and Georgia.

Now to the recommendations and especially the one suggesting that if you have problems with changing America forever by importing tens of thousands of third-worlders every year and more Muslims, you should be identified, investigated and then what?

    Page 16: Recommendations

Adopting the following recommendations would help counter the refugee backlash and keep communities open and welcoming to refugee resettlement:

Read all of them, but note this one:

Conduct Research on Local Anti-Refugee Leaders: The national refugee agencies should partner
with groups such as Center for New Community and Southern Poverty Law Center to learn more
about individuals and groups leading local efforts to resist resettlement, to determine if they belong to organized anti-immigrant or anti-Muslim organizations or networks.

And, so what if we do? You people belong to organized networks! This is America. You know that old-fashioned notion about freedom of association, it still exists!
Why do these Jewish groups want more Muslim immigration to America?

One of the great mysteries of our times is how the Jewish leaders of the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society and the J.M Kaplan Fund don’t get it—frankly, a large percentage of the world’s Muslims want them dead and facilitating Muslim migration to America is not going to make that Islamic imperative go away.

The Southern Poverty Law Center is also a Jewish-run organization.

    Are they that naive?

About the photo: It is interesting that HIAS apparently invited a staffer in the now former Senator Lugar’s office who did some of the research on the program in Indiana that resulted in a damning GAO report on the refugee resettlement program. Were they, at this 2011 event, trying to convince him to move along—nothing to see?
