Immigration and Racial Profiling (CNNiReports Encouraged)

    Immigration and racial profiling

Lawmakers are keeping a close watch on an immigration bill signed in Arizona . The legislation may be some of the toughest in the country, and other state governments are waiting to see if they should follow suit or hang back.

Arizona's bill orders immigrants to carry their alien registration documents, requires police to question people if there's reason to suspect they're in the United States illegally, and targets those who hire or knowingly transport illegal immigrant day laborers.

Supporters say Arizona is leading the way in enacting legislation to protect U.S. borders, while opponents say the policies are too strict and could foster racial profiling. Protests are expected in accordance with the bill's signing, as well as May Day rallies on May 1.

How do you feel about this immigration policy action? What would you recommend, and will you be attending a rally or event? Do you feel that you have been racially profiled? Share your perspective and experiences as text or put your thoughts on video .

I've been racially profiled and detained at the Canadian border. I guess I looked like a non-drug using American citizen or something.

My mother gets profiled every time she flies on an airplane. At 75 with arthritis and gray hair, I guess she looked like a non-bomb toting America Grandmother or something.

Whites and Asians in this country are constantly racially profiled by colleges and treated unfairly when it comes to getting grants and scholarships to go on to college...they are unfairly left out of the loop for the freebies, headstarts and extra points and special privileges given to Hispanics only.

Many Whites and Asians have been barred from attending specific colleges just because they are White or Asian. If that's NOT RACIAL profiling, I don't know what is!
