CHATHAM COUNTY, N.C. -- Police said 2-year-old Edwin Gonzales’s home in Chatham County was invaded by four men early Sunday morning who tied up several people inside, including his mother. Gonzales was taken and police believed he was with his father, Jorge Aguilera.

An Amber Alert was issued. Police thought they may be headed to South Carolina, where Aguilera has family. Aguilera drives a burgundy Ford Expedition. He is 5’6’’ tall with black hair and brown eyes.

Sunday afternoon, a vehicle matching the above description was found in Gaston County. A spokesperson for the FBI tells us that right now there is an open investigation into the kidnapping out of the Raleigh area. He says, "A vehicle was found in Gaston County, and is allegedly connected to the kidnapping." He also says that neither the child, nor the suspect were located, and the Amber Alert remains active.

The FBI is continuing to work with the Chatham County Sheriff's Office, as well as Immigration and Customs.

If you have any information call the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office at 919-542-2911.

Police search for missing 2-year-old boy

09:49 PM EDT on Sunday, October 1, 2006

Our police departments have to spend days and days of their time on this? I say let Vincente Fox take care of this. This is what is to be expected when you allow millions of criminals into this country.... Yes, I say criminals. They enter America knowing they are breaking the law and could care less !!!! These are not immigrants, these are criminals... the worst of the worst the world has to offer.

    2-year-old abducted from Chatham home

    Oct 2, 2006 : 12:33 am ET

SILER CITY -- A 2-year old boy was abducted from his home in Siler City early Sunday morning and the named suspect, Jorge Sanchez Aguilera, is the boy's father.

Sanchez and three other suspects allegedly broke into the home, restrained the residents and took the child, Edwin Sanchez Gonzales, at around 2 a.m. on Sunday, according to the Chatham County Sheriff's Office. The suspects are said to be armed and dangerous and possibly fleeing in a burgundy Ford Expedition.

Once inside the house, Sanchez, 29, of 3005 Sunset St., and the other suspects allegedly restrained three residents with duct tape, according to the Sheriff's Office.

The suspects allegedly threatened to kill the residents if they did not give them the boy and then left the house in the 100 block of Crystal Lane with the boy around 2 a.m. Sunday, according to the Sheriff's Office.

An Amber Alert was issued later in the morning.

The Ford Expedition was located later Sunday, but neither the father nor the boy was in it.

Four arrested in Siler City abduction of 2-year-old boy

Four arrested in Siler City abduction of 2-year-old boy

    Oct 2, 2006 : 6:20 pm ET

SILER CITY, N.C. -- Four people have been arrested in the disappearance of 2-year-old Edwin Sanchez Gonzales, who is believed to have been taken from his Chatham County home by his father, authorities said Monday.

Marcelino Zamudio Tomas, 28, and Lorenzo Gonzales Coria, 18, the mother's brother, each were charged with first-degree burglary and first-degree kidnapping and jailed under a $500,000 bond, said Maj. Gary Blankenship of the Chatham County Sheriff's Department. Both of them live in Siler City.

The boy and his father, Jorge Sanchez Aguilera, still haven't been found.

The child was taken from his mother's home about 2 a.m. Sunday after the father and three other men broke in, the sheriff's department said. Adults were tied up with duct tape and the intruders threatened to kill them if they didn't turn over the child, Blankenship said.

Francisco Rodriguez, 23, of Siler City, was charged with possession of a stolen firearm and is wanted by immigration agents. Elvis Nino Hernandez was arrested on a immigration detainer while driving an SUV believed to be the vehicle used in the abduction.

The mother told WRAL-TV that the boy was taken because the father was angry about not getting custody of the child.

Police said the father is considered armed and dangerous. He is 5-foot-6 and weighs about 145 pounds. The child is about 25 pounds and has black hair. He last was seen in a T-shirt and a diaper.
