Even the Secretary of State (partly) agrees with Tan! This is from the letter they sent to the "offended" Latinos:

"Immigrants who become naturalized United States citizens are eligible to register and vote in elections in California.

    (Spanish translation)
Los inmigrantes naturalizados como ciudadanos se pueden inscribir para votar y votar en las elecciones en California."

Notice how "immigrants" translates to "inmigrantes"? And not emigrado, like the Associated Press claimed? So the Secretary of State backs up Tan's claim that "inmigrantes" are naturalized US citizens, and "emigrado" means green card holder, who Tan correctly said could not vote? So how is this letter different from the original letter linked to Tan's campaign? Why did they even feel the need to send it? Tan's letter was correct in the first place!

OK, there is one big difference. Nowhere does it mention that it is illegal for non-Citizens to vote, or the penalties involved. Probably because LaRaza and MALDEF wrote the Secretary of State letter! Their logos are on it!!! Well at least now they have confirmed who is in reality running California. Maybe this is the part they were all hot and bothered about, apparently they think non-Citizens should be able to vote also, without penalty.

I also think everybody from the Governator to Scott Baugh to the attorney general to the press owes Tan Nguyen a big apology, for claiming his letter was "voter intimidation" and "a hate crime" when it was not.

And speaking of intimidation, there's nothing quite like sending ten armed officers to his house and office to search for "evidence".
It's like hell vomited and the Bush administration appeared.

I'm still waiting to hear how this was deemed a "hate crime" and caused justification of raiding his election office by the FBI.
