Thread: Which Technology Do You Want at the Border?

Good Afternoon,

We know that Boeing's Virtual Fence was a failure on our southern border.

Besides a "real" fence, what sort of technology and equipment would you like to see deployed at the border, to enhance our efforts to secure it?

I was thinking that "anti-rock shields" would be great for our agents who are under attack from the great numbers of rock/stone attacks that we read about every week. Perhaps a shield that they could actually see through, that can absorb rock damage and even projectiles to an extent.

The other idea would be temporary "roll-out fencing" which can be rolled-out from large trucks, and cover distances up to 1/2 mile. Get a few trucks together and you can cover distances up to 2 miles. This could be used temporarily in dangerous areas as a deterrent until permanent fencing of the San Diego nature is built.

Please express your ideas.

I want the double-layered fencing with stadium lighting, sensors, and high speed roads between layers that was promised in the 2006 Secure Fence Act. We need physcial barriers and boots on the ground, not more technologies.

All of the above plus:

Sensors in the ground sort of like land mines but these would emit a bright blinding light and emit a loud, ear-splitting, screeching alarm... ought to scare the bejeezes out of 'em. Troops can put these in but I guess they'd have to have some way of mapping them on a grid or something to know where they are at. Maybe could put something in the fence that goes off automatically also...

High speed road with a large number of troops that are motorized and have enough firepower to take on the drug runners as well. Eye in the sky, preditor drones, and for the fence yes double wall razor wire with a corrugated wall in high traffic areas. If need be electrify it. Also give landowners the right to defend themselves and to take whatever steps to prevent and stop intruders and trespassers. Only roads to mexico should be one way and that is out of the USA. If caught crossing the river then take steps to intercept and not let them get to shore. If it means knocking a hole in the boat then so be it. If they hop the fence then no trial of waiting. Deport them same day. If they shoot or throw rocks then retaliate.

I want the same fence the Israeli's have and troops on the border, not 60 miles into the US. Cut all shrubs, bushes and anything illegals can hide under.

Start drillin g deep wells spaced 50' apart starting at the pacific and going to the easternmost part of mexico With luck mother nature will take effect and the next tremor will split off Mexico like a perforated card. Added plus is we may hit oil too.
