You can literally have millions of illegal immigrants stay here for many years if they do nothing to be apprehended for, that is my point. I know it is not amnesty as we know it, but would you agree that if millions of them (stay under the radar) do not get apprehended indefinitely, then they could stay indefinitely under his plan?
I'm a firm believer in attrition through enforcement. It's logical and it will work. The point is to make their life here so miserable that they will feel like they have no option but to go home. A large majority will not want to live in fear everyday of their life. Can you imagine how scary it must be to think you could be picked up and deported at any time for any reason? Of course that fear does not exist under Obama. We must have a strong entry-exit visa system like Cruz is calling for because 40% of our illegals are visa overstays. We must know who the overstays are so we can track and apprehend them for deportation. Combine that with a nationally mandated E-Verify system like Cruz is calling for (and we don't have) with tough enforcement of all our immigration laws and the illegal life will cease to be viable option of survival. Remember, Cruz is also calling for an end to all sanctuary cities and an end to all illegal immigrant benefits.

Turning into a police state for apprehension is just not sustainable because of our laws, court system, privacy issues, etc., etc. Such an event would draw the media like a fly to honey and could turn the public's perception on the issue. Our illegal alien problem didn't happen overnight and it's not going to be solved overnight.
