Senator Menendez (D-NJ) has placed a hold on the E-Verify bill and is trying to hijack it by insisting on an increase of over half a million visas for foreign workers next year. The House has already passed HR 6633, a "clean" E-Verify bill.

To: Senator Craig:
It is shameful that Senator Menendez has placed a hold on the E-Verify bill and is trying to use it to increase the number of foreign workers visas by 550,000. This is especially appalling in view of the increase in unemployment of American workers.

Removing the jobs that draw new illegal aliens is a key component of our efforts to stop illegal immigration. The E-Verify system has already identified 200,000 individuals trying to gain work in the United States who were not legally entitled to employment.

Every day, more of our nation's businesses sign up for the E-Verify program. They need to know they can continue to rely on it to protect themselves and protect American workers.

The successful E-Verify system is a necessary part of a larger strategy to stop illegal immigration and imposes minimal burdens on employers and employees.

Please pass the clean reauthorization bill, HR 6633.
