Theodore Roosevelt's ideas on Immigrants and being an AMERICAN in 1907.

"In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the person's becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American...There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag... We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language... and we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people."

Thank God he said that. Let's put it out far and wide for the rest of the country to hear. Since our present leaders appear to be incapable or unwilling to do the hard work of representing the AMERICAN people, perhaps the words of some of our previous leaders is what we should put through the microphones of the talk radio shows and the internet.

Perhaps they will be the ones to see US through these days of crisis and despair in America.

I am so pleased that you have brought this up. President Theodore Roosevelt was one of our Greatest Presidents. He would be so hopping mad about what has happened to our Great Country because of these illegal aliens. He would definitely have a "Bully of a time" ridding us of this problem. I am also sure he would have a thing or two to say to Mr Bush. President Bush needs to do some reading and try to be more like this Great President, Theodore Roosevelt
