Woman Faces Reconstructive Surgery After Brutal ‘Knockout’ Beating

A St. Louis woman who was the victim in a brutal “knockout” attack is now undergoing reconstructive surgery for her injuries. Ashley Depew was picking up a friend outside of The Trophy Room when she was attacked and punched in the face. A graphic photo of Depew’s face, showing her injuries in the hospital, was posted to Facebook and immediately went viral.
“Ashley Depew is the younger sister who I taught at my dance studio. She was a victim of the ‘one Punch Knockdown,’ a game that teenagers are now doing,” wrote Brigette Ulmer-Loynd, who uploaded the photo. “This was done in STL a couple nights ago. Please Pray for a quick recovery as she is going under reconstruction surgery. These groups of teenagers will punch out anybody, then scatter to run. Please don’t be a victim and always be aware of your surroundings!”
The horrific “knockout” game has been an ongoing problem in St. Louis since 2011 and is now reaching epidemic proportions across the country. St. Louis Mayor Francis Slay was the first one on the scene at a bloody Knockout attack last weekend in South St. Louis City, while one teenager revealed that he had participated in over 300 “knockout” games throughout the city.
Although it’s unclear whether the attacks are racially motivated, Bill O’Reilly stated on his show last week that young black men are responsible for the bulk of the attacks. “[They’re] angry, they didn’t have a family and their father abandoned them,” said the TV news host. “They’re acting out the street and they’re sold a bill of goods by the civil rights people that white society is the fault. Because you’re unhappy, it’s the whites doing it to you and so they’re whacking whites!”
