    just a simple Q

what's more offending the TV saying a few curse words or people who don't want to learn English and live in America? I got asked that today, and had quite the conversation about it. What do you people think?

Hmmm.....I detest it when people live here and refuse to learn and converse in English publically.

I also do not like swearing on TV, but I hear that a lot less than non-English speaking folks in public.

That's what I said till I got yelled at... Then I got the whole hour long talk on why people who move here shouldn't learn english.

Swearing doesn't offend me. Not speaking english in America does.
I don't care what you call me, so long as you call me AMERICAN.

I can turn off the TV but I can't seem to find the off switch on the illegal aliens.

    Excuses for rudeness

Like someone said I'm not forced to watch TV. But when I'm pushed out of a conversation because I don't speak their laugage in my own country ITS RUDE!
When their speaking to me but change to Spanish when someone walks by ITS RUDE!
Respect my flag my country and learn my laugage or go back to where you came from.

Tell your friend that when people came to America to become citizens in the past, they had to learn English as one of their criteria to be allowed citizenship, and really the rules have not changed. So the ones who actually do not know English and have not learned, most likely are not here legally, therefore their lack of knowledge and desire to learn English is more repugnant than just that of a person who has just come here legally.

It is dually offensive to have people here illegally, and them standing in line at the bank or other public places and expect to have someone speak their language to them, while they do business here illegally!

    Good point AmericanElizabeth....

Okay So I went out quickly with a friend to the store to get something to drink and a snack... What a mistake. The guard at my condo couldn't speak a word of English... He didn't understand a word I said at all to him. I asked my friend why people would hire a security guard who doesn't speak a word of english. He said...

    (1:29:02 AM): no habla englas
    (1:30:05 AM): Guard: Hola
Criminal: Hi iam here to rob some houses and kill some people...you mind if i come in
Guard: Mi Casa e Su Casa
piggiehandcuffs (1:30:18 AM): no more like "j'ai parle creol"
(1:30:54 AM): well i dont know creol but thats why i call for someone that does
piggiehandcuffs (1:31:06 AM): at 1am there ain't no one awake that speaks it
piggiehandcuffs (1:31:19 AM): plus why does he have a security job where most people speak english?!?!?!?
    (1:31:56 AM): equal oppurtunity?
piggiehandcuffs (1:33:21 AM): well everyone has an equal oppertunity to learn english
piggiehandcuffs (1:33:41 AM): to get a green card or citizenship you need to learn how to speak english to take the darn tests.......what the heck went wrong?
