    Too Old to Remember 1986?

A fellow blogger has recently cluttered cyberspace with views contrary to mine on the subject of illegal aliens. His articles are immediately recognizable because he uses Barbara Streisand as his spell check guru. With predicttabkle reessultgs!

This gentleman, who shall remain unnamed, has pontificated on and on about what Native American Indians faced when the pilgrims invaded Plymouth Rock in the 1600s. His blathering can be modestly entertaining, unless one has a radio, a telephone, or even old magazines.

In the interest of spreading truth and wisdom, I often try to remind this misinformed blogger that we are living in 2006, not 1606, and that America is not an unsettled continent.

Furthermore, the United States has absolutely no obligation to honor any neurotic notions that illegal aliens may have concerning their Manifest Destiny or retaking (Reconquesta) of the American Southwest.

The realities of 2006 are quite clear: America is a sovereign nation with defined, established borders. We operate under the rule of law, including procedures that those who wish to migrate here must follow.

Americans welcome newcomers with open arms, provided that those who wish to join us do so in a logical, orderly and lawful manner. That is the way immigration works in 2006.

The United States is hardly alone in this civilized approach to borders and immigration laws. Indeed, I suggest that my “open borders” opponent try to sneak into Mexico illegally, and see how tolerant Mexicans are when it comes to illegal aliens.

In addition, although I can not be certain, my guess is that if this was 1606, Native Americans would not look kindly on 20 million illegal aliens invading their land and otherwise plundering their assets.

My blogging buddy also advocates a form of amnesty so that we can secure the borders and move on. In other words, this is last 20 million we let stay!

In 1986, the U.S. tried that approach. About three million illegal aliens were granted amnesty and tough new laws were codified to prevent future invasions.

Now, 20 million illegal aliens later, we have the same problem, but much larger and, because of the threat of terrorism, far more dangerous.

Amnesty will never work, because it is serves as an incentive to those remaining behind. The 1986 experience proves that we need militarized borders and merciless enforcement of our laws, including mass deportations.

But perhaps my cyberspace competitor is too old to remember 1986?

I couldn't agree with this assessment more. It isn't that your competitor nor any of the others who invaded this nation illegally don't remember, they don't care. Is it me or has anyone else noticed that these millions of invaders seem to share one brain?

Considering these 20 plus illegal aliens have already stolen BILLIONS OF US TAXPAYER FUNDS, I think the reconquesta propaganda is a load of you know what!!!

Go back to South America and build up your own countries or come here the legal way!!

Honestly, I don't think there is one argument in favor of amnesty or open borders that makes me crazier than the "pilgrims vs. native Americans" one!

I can't even begin to follow that logic and I don't understand how these people can use this as a legitimate argument with a straight face! First of all, we cannot go back 400 years to the way things were then to determine what current immigration policy is! Governments in the 21st century have immigration policies. Yes, 1,000 years ago, groups of people migrated from place to place. What does that have to do with the way things are in the 21st century?!

When they are forced to bring up the pilgrims argument, I think they are really getting desperate.

If you think about it when they use the pilgrim argument why don't they just go further back in time like back to the beginning of mankind-the Garden of Eden. Every single person living on the planet Earth would be an immigrant using their argument.

The pro-illegals always use this argument and then they call you a bigot or racist when you disagree with them. I was reading a board this morning and the pro illegal poster called another poster a bigot because he'd used a link on the internet that didn't support the pro illegal view. Of course the name calling meant he'd just lost the argument.

    Absolutely!

they don't care. Is it me or has anyone else noticed that these millions of invaders seem to share one brain?
You are right they don't care. They don't care about any of it weather it is our sovereignty, our laws or our way of life! They walk all over it and spit on it then suggest we should be sympathetic!?!? I won't say what I am thinking right now but the time for us being nice and patient is quickly reaching an end.

Unfortunately it is not just them who doesn't care. A certain elite group in this country doesn't care either. They only see it and us for that matter as consumers and voters. I got news for them too...

(1794-1849). William Jenkins Worth, United States Army major general. During the Mexican War Worth served under generals Zachary Taylor and Winfield Scott. He participated in the battle of Monterrey in 1846, led the first troops ashore in the United States amphibious landing at Veracruz in March 1847, and commanded the troops that captured Chapultepec Castle in Mexico City in September 1847. For these accomplishments he received a sword of honor from Congress and a promotion to major general.

If I could, I'd find a picture on the net of the American Flag flying on the Capital of Mexico. They exist. The historically challenged can see the defeat for themselves.

Chapultepec Castle was the last major obstacle before American troops could take Mexico City in the Mexican War. Artillery bombarded the castle for two days before two storming parties scaled the walls." Lib. of Congress
