That is just appalling. Wow, to be honest, in Oregon, we do not have too much of this kind of "wasteland". There are a few places where development started in small scale, and was not able to be finished, but not that kind, where empty homes sit lined up, just the beginnings of it, and no homes.

At least it's not Detroit. Those homes would have been stripped of anything of value, and grafitti on the walls, and generally destroyed.

Brazen, I have seen all too many smaller towns grow too big and become nothing more than bedroom communities of Portland. It is sickening. McMansion after McMansion communities springing up, where the average Oregonian cannot possibly afford to live, and it drives those of us, who have smaller incomes, out of towns and decent neighborhoods, and into places we'd rather not live.
The back side to that, no one hears about is when good families with lowered incomes get forced out of decent neighborhoods, we're left to live within communities we'd rather not, and thus end up being labeled to be something we are not (when you have to live among dysfunctional people, society generally assumes you are too).
It has been happening for too long and is not getting any better. All the good, more rural properties are being plowed over for the huge home tracks, and this makes rural living too expensive (it used to be the opposite)."In the beginning of a change, the Patriot is a scarce man, Brave, Hated, and Scorned. This looks like APple Valley or Victorville. I lived in AV in the mid 80's and I don't even recognize it anymore. Glad I got out.
