Hollande Says Trump Excesses in U.S. Elections Make Him Sick

French President Francois Hollande expressed extreme revulsion at Donald Trump’s “excesses” in the U.S. presidential campaign and warned against the authoritarian tone adopted by the Republican nominee and billionaire reality-television celebrity.
“In the U.S., one of the world’s great democracies, maybe the greatest democracy, where democracy was born, before the French one, we see some excesses that are sickening,” Hollande said in Paris during the annual meeting with the presidential press.
Particularly, Hollande added, when Trump “speaks ill of a soldier, of the memory of a soldier,” an allusion to his feud with the parents of Capt. Humayun Khan, a Muslim-American soldier killed in Iraq in 2004.
Hollande and Trump have already swapped barbs, most recently when the real-estate mogul said in the aftermath of a string of terror attacks on France that he would not visit the country because “France is no longer France.” Hollande responded his country would stay true to its values.
In his comments to French journalists, Hollande this time did not hold back his disdain and dismay at the prospect of a Trump White House: “If the American people choose Trump it will have consequences worldwide because the U.S. is a global economy,” he told a hotel conference room of 66 reporters over drinks.
Merkel’s Silence
Trump has made digs at other European leaders, while praising Russia’s Vladimir Putin. He called Angela Merkel’s refugee policy “insane” and accused the German Chancellor of ruining Europe’s dominant economy. She has maintained a dignified silence. When asked at a news conference if she had nightmares about him becoming president, she said: “I can answer that question with a clear, ‘No.’"
French presidential elections are next year and it’s unclear if Hollande, the most unpopular leader in modern French history, will run again. The country has been overwhelmed by a fatal series of terrorist plots amid a rising chorus calling upon the government to disregard legal checks on its power in the pursuit of potential attackers. Hollande and his government have pledged to stick to the rule of law.
“The U.S. campaign provides themes that will then come into the French campaign,” Hollande said, adding that what was once “unthinkable,” a Trump administration, has now entered the realm of “foreseeable.”

And, rightly so.
No wonder you're so unpopular in France. The French people are not like you and do not think like you. How did you get elected to begin with??!!

France’s President Says Trump’s ‘Excesses’ Make People ‘Want to Retch’
By AURELIEN BREEDENAUG. 3, 2016
PARIS — President François Hollande of France has said that the “excesses” of Donald J. Trump made people “want to retch,” adding a scathing international voice to the chorus of those criticizing the Republican presidential nominee.
Speaking on Tuesday to the French Presidential Press Association in Paris, Mr. Hollande noted the worldwide importance of the American campaign, calling it a “global election,” and said a victory for Mr. Trump could herald a shift to conservative candidates in other countries.
Mr. Hollande, whose comments were later reported by Agence France-Presse and Reuters, expressed particular dismay at the attacks on “a soldier, the memory of a soldier,” referring to Mr. Trump’s continued criticism of the parents of Capt. Humayun Khan, a Muslim and an American soldier who was killed in 2004 in Iraq.
The comments from Mr. Trump have prompted widespread condemnation in the United States and have led several prominent Republicans to distance themselves from the party’s nominee.
On Tuesday, President Obama urged Republican leaders to withdraw their support for Mr. Trump’s candidacy, calling him “unfit to serve” as the next president.
Mr. Hollande said “the excesses end up making you feel like you want to retch,” and he called Mr. Trump’s comments on the Khan family “hurtful and humiliating.”
It was not the first time that Mr. Hollande has lashed out against the Republican candidate. After the killing of a priest in Normandy last week, he reacted angrily to Mr. Trump’s assessment that “France is no longer France.”
“France will always be France,” Mr. Hollande retorted. “It never gives up, because it still bears ideals, values, principles that are recognized worldwide, and it’s when you lower your standards that you are no longer what you are. That’s something that may happen to others, on the other side of the Atlantic.”
On Tuesday, Mr. Hollande said, “If the Americans choose Trump, it will have consequences because the American election is a global election.”
Mr. Hollande is expected to run in the French presidential election next year, although he has not officially announced his candidacy, despite dismal approval ratings as he struggles to fulfill his promises to significantly lower unemployment and to keep the country safe even as it has emerged as a target for terrorists.
The prospect of Mr. Trump winning the election or significantly swaying the global political debate rightward is especially worrying for Mr. Hollande, who is facing strong challenges from the French center-right Republican party, led by former President Nicolas Sarkozy, and from the far-right National Front, led by Marine Le Pen.
Asked about the influence of a Trump victory on the French election, Mr. Hollande said that the response could go either way, by steering the presidential contest to the right, or, on the contrary, by leading to a “correction.”
“The American campaign signals themes that are then found in the French campaign,” Mr. Hollande said.

This time, Americans have a choice to save ourselves from these traitors.
And this is choice that I believe Americans will overwhelmingly embrace, no matter how you rig the polls, no matter how you distort the news through the dishonest Media, no matter what lies you tell to make people afraid of Trump, no matter how you try to fix the election, the truth will set US free and as free citizens, Americans will vote for Donald J Trump and be taking names of those who tried to squash our chance to save our nation.
SAVE AMERICA!
VOTE DONALD J TRUMP FOR PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES!!

Hollande is a dyed in the wool socialist and Obama buddy. He has enough problems in his own country right now and should be tending to his own business. I find his acquiescence to terrorists sickening.JMO

Yes, he's extremely unpopular. No wonder. I hope Marine Le Pen and her party get a shot to govern France. I like her from what I've read.
