Trump points to 'vote flipping' in Texas



Donald Trump on Thursday pointed to reports of "vote flipping" in Texas.

"A lot of call-ins about vote flipping at the voting booths in Texas," Trump tweeted.

"People are not happy. BIG lines. What is going on?"

Voters in the past have reported that the wrong candidate will be selected when they attempt to cast their ballots for an opponent on a touch-screen machine.

Voters in at least three counties in Texas have said that they attempted to vote for Republicans, but the Democratic Hillary Clinton/Tim Kaine option popped up instead of the GOP Donald Trump/Mike Pence ticket, according to NPR.

Local election officials reportedly said there is nothing wrong with the machines and claimed the mistakes were due to user error.

Larry Norden, a voting technology expert, said the problem is likely due to using old and outdated technology.

"Over time, as people vote, that calibration becomes less and less accurate," Norden told NPR.

Trump in recent weeks have been ramping up his claims that the election is rigged against him.

He has warned of widespread voter fraud and has said the media is trying to secure a victory for Clinton, the Democratic nominee.

The GOP nominee is trailing his Democratic rival by 5.4 points nationally, according to the RealClearPolitics average of polls.

In Texas, the GOP nominee has a 4.7-point lead, 45.7 percent to 41 percent.
