We have a rich trust fund son out here---mostly involved in press and radio. Inherited a wood products company, came out with a really stupid product that resulted in $1 billion worth of lawsuits (which is also how much he directly inherited), broke the company up and sold it off. Then bought a bunch of community news papers, radio stations, has a big, gentleman farm, sits on various boards, etc. Doesn't really have a clue as to what he is actually doing; but when you have money you can get other people to figure it out for you.
