Thread: Waukegan School letter about Sept. 12 Elvira Day

Our school superintendent sent a letter home about today. Any other school?! At a recent prayer vigil about the ICE raids in Waukegan a flyer was handed out about today -so he probably felt he should say something.

I haven't seen any other news about today. Think it will be a bust???

Dear Parent/Guardian:

It has come to our attention that particular community organizations that promote civic and political interests have been encouraging parents to keep students from attending school on a particular date, as an expression of free speech to demonstrate their concern about current national issues. These issues are in no way or form, related to the schools or the educational interests of our students. While we acknowledge and respect the rights of community members and organizations to exercise their expressions of freedom that our constitution guarantees, we are also concerned when presented with situations that ask for our families to ignore the importance that attending school plays in the future development of our students.

Please know that it is critically important that parents, teachers, students, and administration always work together to ensure that our students attend school and classes every day. Anything that interferes with student attendance is never a reasonable option since it damages our most precious members of our community-- our children.

Moreover, advising children to be kept out of school also conveys the wrong message to students that school attendance and education are not important. I am confident that you will agree with me that such messages are completely undesirable. Regardless of the current situation, or those that might arise in the near future, I beg you to support the best educational interests of our students by making sure that attendance at school is a priority at all times.

It is the school district’s policy that students who are absent without appropriate excuses, will be marked with unexcused absences. Please support our mission of educating our children. Thank you for your cooperation in this important matter.

Good for Dr. Batiste!!! I'm sure he's going to take a lot of heat for this from the pro-illegal crowd so just remember, we should all try to show some support for him just like we put it behind the City Council when Waukegan needed us!! In fact, maybe we should keep it in mind for any educator who took similar action for the sake of the kids.

You know, this made me think of something. The pro-illegals are now using the "poor traumatized children" as the latest tactic to demand that we immediately stop enforcing our laws and grant legal status to the illegal alien parents. They've also seemed to have stepped it up now that, in addition to everything else, there are anchor baby bills pending which you just know they are all scared to death are going to pass. Right now, we have an ideal opportunity to turn this tactic against them, just as we have every other one, and very vigorously point out to our reps just who it is victimizing these kids and it isn't this country or "racist, xenophobic citizens".

It's something that has bothered me for a long time. These kids are, for the most part, born to be used as shields and benefits cash cows for their parents. They are further exploited by all of these self appointed activists. We should collectively be very angered by this.....not just because we are the ones paying for it, but also because we are a nation who highly values our kids and I think that pretty much every one can agree that children should not be used like this. Yet, to hear the activists tell it, illegals exceed the standard for morals and family values, they want nothing but a good life and education for their children, blah, blah, blah.

That's a crock and we couldn't have a better example of the abuse and exploitation of these kids than we have right now in Saul Arrellano and nationwide demands by these activists that kids be pulled out of school for no other reason than to inflate their numbers of participants and for use as political pawns.

We have the perfect opportunity to point out the hypocrisy of these people and demand that our elected officials do everything and anything in their power to stop the exploitation of these kids. If there's no payoff for the behavior, it will stop.

The PRO-ILLEGALS are the ones traumatizing the kids, feeding them boogeyman stories.

No one told these illegal women to have babies in a country where they don't belong! And, if their country is so great why make their kid a US citizen? Oh yeah that's right because places like Mexico don't have welfare and other social services. The slogan should read, "Want free healthcare, subsidized housing, food stamps, and money in the bank? Then HOP pn over and drop a baby in the USA! US citizens will gladly pay for your anchor baby!"...This message brought to you by the US President Jorge Boosh and the US Congress.
The kids are traumatized because their parents made the decision to ILLEGALLY enter the US and create a life based on a criminal act. And when the time came for them to pay for their crime they spout family values and tearing the family apart? How many do you think are married? I don't think very many because the woman gets more money and the boyfriend can live there and they all can enjoy subsidized housing, foodstamps, healthcare, and money for the kids every month. So is shacking an example of this family values pro-illegals claim these illegal are full of?

Yes, they are. And they need to stop doing this to these kids who did not ask to be born.

That's why I think that, with Saul Arrellano so very openly being exploited to the degree he is at present, and this nationwide call for children to be forcibly kept out of school, it would be a very good time for us to bring this to our officials' attention, and demand that they act to....not only reduce our costs....but stop this blatant and shameless exploitation of these kids.
