They printed my letter to the editor in the paper. However, they edited the quote from Theodore Roosevelt and omitted this paragraph in bold:

As President Theodore Roosevelt said:
"In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin.

BUT this is predicated upon the person's becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American...There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all.

We have room for but one flag, the American flag... We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language... and we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people." - THEODORE ROOSEVELT

They also printed the original letter of a writer that told of students tearing the American flag from their study books.

Although they printed our letters, the prefaced with this editors note:

"The following letters do not reflect the views of the VVVVVVV VVVVVV and are entirely the opinions of the individual writers. We attempted to diffuse the allegations made in one of the letters, by pointing out in an article last week that the situation involved was taken seriously by the school and children are disciplined. We understand the need for the paper to provide a public forum for people's opinions and we believe people have a right to express their opinions, but we hve no intention of allowing the VVVVvv VVVVV to become a standing forum for negative and inflammatory allegations - from either side of this hot-button issue on an on-going basis."
