WH lists terror attacks it claims media ignored

The White House on Monday evening issued a list of terrorist attacks it says "have not received the media attention they deserved."

The list spans from September 2014 to December 2016 and contains 78 attacks planned or carried out by followers of the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) both at home and abroad.

The list includes major attacks, such as the November 2015 massacre in Paris and mass shootings in San Bernardino, Calif., and Orlando, Fla., that dominated news coverage for weeks.

It also included many strikes overseas that received limited media attention in the U.S., including killings in Dhaka, Bangladesh; Parramatta, Australia; and Zvornik, Bosnia. The White House said “most” of the attacks on the list haven’t received adequate coverage, explaining it included both well-known and lesser-known strikes to illustrate the frequency with which they occur.

“Since ISIS declared its caliphate, there has been a major attack targeting the West executed or inspired by the group more than once every two weeks,” the White House said.

Officials distributed the list to reporters hours after Trump accused the news media of downplaying coverage of terrorist attacks directed or inspired by ISIS.

“It’s gotten to a point where it’s not even being reported,” Trump said at MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, Fla. “And in many cases, the very, very dishonest press doesn’t want to report it.”

The president implied journalists have ulterior motives for burying coverage of the threat posed by terrorist groups. “They have their reasons, and you understand that,” he said.

Trump mentioned the 9/11 attacks and more recent violence in cities including Orlando and Nice, France during Monday’s remarks.

The president’s comments baffled many, given the blanket coverage typically given to major strikes in the U.S. and Europe. Trump provided no evidence to back up his claims during his speech.

White House press secretary Sean Spicer then pledged to publish a list of events the president believes the media ignored.

“There’s a lot of instances that have occurred where I don’t think they’ve gotten the coverage they deserved,” he told reporters aboard Air Force One.

Outstanding! Very good information that the press should have and report on. ISIS is in 32 countries, but these 7 states are the hotbeds for ISIS and Al Qaeda and they do not have controlled passport and information offices, that is the real reason for this temporary ban of these 7 states, there is no way to verify their documents.

What the Judge is doing is most bizarre, very naive and short-sighted, smells of extreme liberalism or an affinity to appease Seattle immigrant employers instead of respect for the office of the Presidency that is responsible for the safety and security of the American people. After all, when there's a terrorist attack in the United States, Judges are nowhere to be found to clean up the mess, arrest or kill the terrorists, notify the families of those killed, help the families take care of loved ones who survived but with serious debilitating wounds and injuries. Nope. Judges are nowhere to be found. They don't have their boots on the ground, their shoes on the streets, they don't wade through the blood, they don't look for bodies, nope. They just live their nice little uppity lives judging others who do.

White House releases dubious list to back Trump’s claim that media ignores terror attacks

President Trump vows to ‘defeat radical islamic terrorism’

The White House released a list of terrorist attacks to bolster President Trump’s claim that the press does not report of them.

This list was published just hours after Trump implied the existence of an industry-wide conspiracy within journalism during a speech to top brass of U.S. Central Command at MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, Fla.

“And in many cases the very, very dishonest press doesn’t want to report it. They have their reasons, and you understand that,” Trump told the military leaders.

The commander in chief did not cite any evidence or data to support his claim, which seemed particularly jarring given that cable news often immediately launches into wall-to-wall coverage of major terrorist attacks.

The Trump administration’s list of 78 supposedly underreported terrorist attacks, from September 2014 until December 2016, is noteworthy for including incidents that received a tremendous amount of coverage and dominated the news cycle.

These included the following (figures as presented on White House list):

    • The coordinated terrorist attacks on Paris in November 2015 that killed at least 129 and wounded about 400.
    • The coordinated bombings at Zaventem Airport and on a subway train in Brussels, Belgium, in March 2016 that killed At least 31 killed and wounded about 270.
    • The truck attack in Nice, France, in July 2016 that killed 84 and wounded about 308.
    • The shooting of a nightclub in Orlando, Fla., in June 2016 that killed 49 and wounded about 53.
    • The shootings and suicide bombings at Ataturk International Airport in Istanbul, Turkey, that killed 45 and wounded about 240.

The list failed to include several terrorist attacks that were not carried out by jihadists. Noteworthy absences include the June 2015 Charleston church shooting, in which a white supremacist murdered nine black parishioners, and last month’s Quebec City mosque shooting that killed six Muslims and injured about 20.

Critics on social media were quick to point out these absences.

Did we lose the page on underreported terrorist attacks by white supremacists? Is that a separate list?

The list was also riddled with misspellings and formatting inconsistencies. For instance, attacker” is misspelled as “Attaker” 27 times, and “San Bernardino” is misspelled as “San Bernadino.”

Two Southern California congressmen, both Democrats, pointed out the latter typo as a sign that the White House wasn’t paying enough attention to the issue.

If White House didn't know how to spell San Bernardino they should've read one of thousands of heartbreaking articles remembering victims.

The list also refers to the Islamic State terrorist group by the abbreviation “ISIL,” despite Trump having criticized former President Barack Obama for using that abbreviation instead of the more common “ISIS.”

“And he calls it ISIL. And the reason he calls it ISIL is he likes to bother everybody,” Trump said of Obama last August, the Hill reported. “He’s like the only one who is still calling it ISIL.”
