What right do we have to ask about immigration status?
Lets say someone is arrested for a crime. And I want to find out their immigration status. Legally, can I demand the information? Or is it up the the PD to decide whether to make it public? Assuming the check, of course.

My experience tell me they don't check in many cases. I have tried to find out the immigration status of 3 people who were being held as accessories after the fact in the Chelsey Powers murder in Winston-Salem N.C. No answer whatsoever about their status and the police still haven't figured out WHO killed 15 year old Chelsey and wounded her friend.

I know my local PD (Suffolk County) doesn't check! They also don't go out of there way to pull over illegals in packed out trucks/cars and ask them to leave when 85 are standing in front of a store waiting for "work"!

They don't know about most illegals. Look at the case where the police still don't know if the guy is here illegally. He didn't have any papers to prove he was here legally. I guess they can't assume anything. They have to be on a list. How do they get on that list? After not showing up for deportation hearings. So, if they don't get in any trouble, you can't find out.

Of course we are letting terrorists go! We catch some coming across the border and the news makes it a big deal and everyone is so happy and feel safe. It only makes me wonder how many they didn't catch! And I see most illegals as terrorists. They are invaders. They have threatened war.
The way I see it, if they have no ID and can't be verified as an American citizen, send them home. If some American citizens get caught up they can fight to come back. If we take the time to sort every single one out and try to find out their status, it only makes the job harder and then we end up with them back on our streets. And every single ilegal is a crimminal. The first step they took on our soil makes them one.I'd rather die living then live dying!

Most police departments have a policy in effect that they cannot check into people's immigration status unless the subject has been red flagged and it says so on their FCIC and NCIC hit."I could tell that my parents hated me. My bath toys were a toaster and a radio" - Rodney Dangerfield
