DEAR VOTERS,
Most of you will have local elections on Tuesday.
Turnout for these "off-year elections" is almost always incredibly low.
Just a little extra effort by one type of interest can really sway these elections.
If all 510,000 of you registered users of NumbersUSA were to vote Tuesday -- and if you allowed immigration to be a guiding issue in how you cast your vote -- I believe you would create a newsworthy result.
As you know, we at NumbersUSA are non-partisan and do not endorse candidates or political parties. We also understand that voters weigh many considerations when deciding whom to back as a candidate. It is important for all of us to know the issues and which candidates, R's, D's or Independents, will fight for sensible immigration reform and enforcement of existing law. This past year it has become increasingly clear that the immigration debate and enforcement of immigration law has moved in large measure from the national to the state and local level. Therefore, for the first time local elections are turning on the immigration issue.
Because of your pressures on local and state leaders, you are much more likely to know the immigration positions of candidates. Will they move your state, county, city or town toward sanctuary protections of illegal aliens? Or will they move toward more enforcement to make your areas inhospitable for illegal aliens?
You are going to have some real choices Tueday."We call things racism just to get attention. We reduce complicated problems to racism, not because it is racism, but because it works." --- Alfredo Gutierrez, political consultant.
